In their official capacities,they help explain GE’s best practices and leadership concepts in afriendly and welcoming way. Although they come from differentbusinesses, they are the best advocates of GE culture andworking environment. They also share a similar title: authorizedinstructors at the GE China Learning Center.In order to keep employees up to date of the latest trainingtechniques and information, GE China Learning Center held atrainers networking event from May 18 to 19 in Shanghai. Morethan 20 internal instructors from different businesses participated.In attendance were key members of the Learning SimplificationProject such as Jeff Barnes and Pablo Vera from Crotonville; LucyDinwiddie, Chief Learning Officer from GE Aviation; Bob Cancalosi,Chief Learning Officer from GE Healthcare; Bethany Tate Cornell,Chief Learning Officer from GE Energy, and training leaders fromGE Europe, GE South America and GE Africa.On May 18, global learning leaders shared the latest newson Crotonville: Jeff Barnes talked about an innovative andinteresting Crotonville; Rupert Hodges fromCrotonville EMEAexplained sixcore elementsof CrotonvilleWay, includingVoice of GlobalLeadership, Being a Part of the GE Story, Developing & DeepeningConnections, Unleashing Imaginations, Leaders TeachingLeaders, Making Leadership Personal; Bob Cancalosi and BethanyTate Cornell shared the importance and the current status of theLearning Simplification Project.During the afternoon sessions, several professional instructorsshared their own experience and development stories. Jeff saidthat as an instructor, when he walked into a training room, hetried his best to find the feeling of owning this room; and sharedhis secrets on how to relax and remain calm under pressure;Philip Lai shared his own development gains of being aninstructor; Lily Chen told stories on how to grow into an excellentinstructor and training manager by introducing the 5Ps.The next day, the instructors gathered at the old Jiashan city topaint their own Crotonville Way. They were all delighted to beinvolved in the activity and see their minds revealed on canvas,although some instructors got down to painting for the first time.51 GE & MEGE & ME 52
