MarkHutchinson, President & CEO of GE Greater China, delivered aspecial speech welcoming these special guests.During the event, Kovalainen expressed his great admirationfor GE's research and development, particularly in the areas ofadvanced materials, sensor equipment and IT, and expressedhis gratitude to GE’s advanced technical assets that have helpedthe team achieve a constant stream of successes. Kovalainenemphasized the importance of keeping staying fit throughoutthe season, both mentally and physically. "This requires a lotof perseverance and stamina," he said. When asked about theShanghai Circuit, Petrov talked about his love for the racetrackand his first F1 point during the 2010 season. He was also quickto point out that Shanghai’s spring weather with its capriciousshowers makes it more difficult for any driver to make their markhere. Later, the drivers announced the lucky draw winners andpresented Caterham T-shirts and bags.The next day, 10 technical members from GE China TechnologyCenter (CTC) visited the F1 Paddock in Shanghai’s Jiading Districtwhere they were given the rare opportunity to watch theCaterham F1 team in action. Richard Quentin, the Caterham F1Team Commercial Manager, welcomed the CTC colleagues, andthen introduced the working process behind the scenes of theF1 races along with interesting stories about the racing event.After taking a tour of the garage and data management center,the team observed real-time car components being assembledand tested. They were impressed by the F1 team's sophisticatedtechnology, systematic operations and management. At the endof the visit, members took photos with the F1 racing cars.Mingang She, Chairman of the Material Science of TechnicalCommunity said, "Formula One is really a systematic showof advanced technologies, and we are happy to see GE’stechnology benefiting the whole team. The Caterham’steamwork and innovative spirit are in line with GE’s culture. Wewish the team all the best in 2012.”This is the second year that GE was a Premium Partner to theCaterham F1 Team. GE and the Caterham team are currentlyexploring a number of collaborative technology initiativesthat will bring their relationship to life across a variety of GE’sbusinesses.
