Eve Gu, Cao Yang,Tony Li and Ox Yu, answered questions about reasons why they have come back after a shortleave, and provided career tips for other employees.Eve Gu: Challenge Drives Mewhere leaders show their sincere respect for each employee. For a person who loves challenges, <strong>GE</strong> is the best place for Eve to achieve herdreams.As the HR manager for <strong>GE</strong> China GGO, Eve faces larger challenges than ever before in her career. Instead of dealing with HR issues foronly one department or team, Eve needs to s<strong>at</strong>isfy different talent demands and provide uniform services with <strong>GE</strong> standards. “It is veryinteresting to talk and <strong>work</strong> with colleagues across different businesses,” Eve said. “Proving solutions for different businesses accordingto their actual situ<strong>at</strong>ion, this is a universal principle.”Recruitment is not an easy jobAlthough the size of the team she leads has grown, Eve’s main task has remained unchanged: recruiting new employees for <strong>GE</strong>. Andwhile her <strong>work</strong> load may seem smaller, Eve said the <strong>work</strong> has become even more complic<strong>at</strong>ed.“Before recruiting new employees, we need to know about the oper<strong>at</strong>ion p<strong>at</strong>terns of different businesses and learn their specificdemands,” Eve said. In recent years, <strong>GE</strong> acquired a number of companies whose systems and d<strong>at</strong>abase were less than perfect,therefore, she and her team needed to use <strong>GE</strong>’s internal d<strong>at</strong>abase and resources to help these companies solve their talent issues. As arel<strong>at</strong>ively sound system built up, they <strong>work</strong>ed out a more system<strong>at</strong>ic talent recruitment plan for these new acquired companies.When asking for her future career plan, Eve said directly, “The future depends on the opportunities you seize now, maybe I will try otherfields such as personnel training or C&B (Compens<strong>at</strong>ion and Benefits).”We sincerely hope Eve will continuously address new challenges she meets in the future and also strive for achievements for <strong>GE</strong>’s HR field.Eve Gu, a hard <strong>work</strong>ing HR specialist, has remained committedto the field since 1999. Today, she is the Talent AcquisitionManager of <strong>GE</strong> China GGO. During her interview, Eve said sheis not someone to accept life “as is”. “I have a clear goal: to dothings I have never done before,” Eve said. And the one word shementions most during her interview is “challenge”.Rookie to HR expertEve loves her job. “Hiring new employees is only the basicfunction of HR. When new employees arrive, HR personnel’smain task is to help them grow fast by conducting a series oftraining sessions so the newcomers can get accustomed tothings and start making a contribution to the company as soonas possible.” From 2001 to 2010, Eve has been a member of theHR department of <strong>GE</strong> businesses in China.Over the past nine and a half years, Eve has grown from a freshhand to a professional. “<strong>GE</strong> has given me the opportunity to learnthe ins and outs of HR and the qualities a professional HR shouldhave, which has had an immeasurable impact on my careerp<strong>at</strong>h.”“Different situ<strong>at</strong>ions, different solutions”In 2010, Eve left <strong>GE</strong> and became a manager in the organiz<strong>at</strong>ionaldevelopment department of another company. But after ayear and a half, she was back <strong>at</strong> <strong>GE</strong>. “When <strong>GE</strong> colleaguesrecommended th<strong>at</strong> I come back and take up the position of beingthe HR manager of <strong>GE</strong> China GGO, I immedi<strong>at</strong>ely realized th<strong>at</strong> thiswas an opportunity I couldn’t pass up,” Eve said. “It was excitingfor me to lead a team of more than 20 members.” Aside fromthe title <strong>GE</strong> offered, <strong>GE</strong>’s gre<strong>at</strong> company culture was anotherreason for Eve’s return. She said th<strong>at</strong> <strong>GE</strong> is a human company,Eve’s career tips:• Courageously face challenges:Every challenge is an opportunity for you to learn something new.
