Mac Mathúna Novel for teenagersBook of the Year at Oireachtas na GaeilgeThe Book of the Year Awards were held again this year in co-operation withOireachtas na Gaeilge. €15,000 was provided for the Book of the Year foradults, that is the Ó Súilleabháin Award (€10,000 to the publisher and €5,000to the writer) and €10,000 for the Book of the Year for children, that is theRéics Carló Award (€7,000 to the publisher and €3,000 to the author).Oireachtas na Gaeilge set up a Selection Committee to assess all the books. Ashort list for Book of the Year was announced at a special event in the NewTheatre in September 2009 as part of IMRAM’s Festival of Literature.
