Woodside Irish medium school and Scoil Mológa where pupils were creatingartwork to accompany the poems they had written. Áine sought to createanother bond with the community and exhibit this work publicly. Each pupilswork was framed – between 80 and 90 pictures – and exhibited along withpoetry readings held locally.Seamus Heaney Centre for PoetryPádraigín Ní Uallacháin continued with her work as resident artist in <strong>2009</strong> inthe Seamus Heaney Centre in Queen’s University, to spread and promoteIrish songs, both old and new, among the community. She operates especiallyin the University, around the city in the schools and colleges.<strong>The</strong> Irish <strong>The</strong>atre Institute<strong>The</strong> first stage of Playography na Gaeilge has now been completed andinformation about 254 plays in Irish is available on the site. During <strong>2009</strong>, a new scheme was developed and run, ‘<strong>The</strong>Online Magazine Scheme 2010-2012, and a three year contract for OideasGael (the provider of www.beo.ie) was reported in December <strong>2009</strong>. Foinse’sfour year contract to publish a weekly Irish newspaper ended. ‘<strong>The</strong> WeeklyIrish Newspaper Scheme’ was re-advertised and in December <strong>2009</strong> a newcontract for the company ‘Torann na dTonn’ to publish Gaelscéal weekly inprint form and electronically was reported. <strong>The</strong> provision of Comhar’s grantunder the ‘Printed Magazine Scheme 2008-2010 to publish a monthlymagazine was continued. <strong>The</strong> funding of the quarterly publications An Timireand An Sagart was also continued.Support was provided for immigrant communities through our continuing cooperationwith the multi-cultural weekly newspaper MetroÉireann.<strong>The</strong> final portion of the partnership funding with the Gaelic AthleticAssociation was presented to the Munster Council to run a grounds signagerenewal scheme throughout the province.More than 1,000 support packages were provided for both the business andcommunity sectors in which practical aids were provided to increase thevisibility of Irish.<strong>Language</strong> Status in Terminology AffairsTalks about TerminologyTalks on the work of terminology in Irish were given in these centresthroughout the year: Dublin Institute of Technology; <strong>The</strong> National Universityof Ireland, Maynooth; <strong>The</strong> National University of Ireland, Galway; and theNPLD (Network to Promote Linguistic Diversity) seminar which was held inDublin.19
