RELATED PARTY TRANSACTIONSForas na Gaeilge is an arm of The Language Body, a North South Implementation Body sponsored by theDepartment of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht and the Department of Culture, Arts and Leisure.TheDepartments named above are regarded as related parties. During the year Foras na Gaeilge engaged in varioustransactions with these Departments.None of the Board members, management staff or other related parties have undertaken any relevanttransactions with Foras na Gaeilge during the year.Formal procedures were put in place in 2006 regarding the conduct of Board or staff members in the event of aconflict of interest or a possible conflict of interest as regards the grants process.During the financial year ended 31 December 2009 Foras na Gaeilge undertook the following transactions withrelated parties:• An aggregate payment of €350,616 aggregate value for the National Terminology Database was madeto Fiontar in Dublin City University where three board members are employed. This contract wassigned with Fiontar on 5 November 2007, which was previous to the appointment of these particularmembers as board members on the 13 December 2007. Furthermore, grants of €7,500 for scholarshipsto students attending Fiontar courses was paid. None of these members received documentationrelating to this transaction and accordingly they did not paraticipate in or attend any Board discussionrelating to the transaction.30
