STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIESForas na Gaeilge's Responsibilities<strong>The</strong> Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht and the Department of Culture, Arts and Leisure in <strong>North</strong>ern Ireland havedirected the <strong>Language</strong> <strong>Body</strong> to prepare a statement of accounts for each financial year in the form and on the basis set out in theaccounts direction in Appendix 3 to these accounts. <strong>The</strong> accounts are prepared on an accruals basis and must give a true and fairview of Foras na Gaeilge’s state of affairs at the year end and of its income and expenditure, recognised gains and losses, andcash flows for the financial year.In preparing the accounts the <strong>Body</strong> is required to:• observe the accounts direction issued by the Department of Arts, Heritiage and the Gaeltacht and the Department of CultureArts and Leisure, including the relevant accounting and disclosure requirements, and apply accounting policies on aconsistent basis;• make judgements and estimates on a reasonable basis;• state whether applicable accounting standards have been followed or have not been followed and disclose and explain anymaterial departures in the accounts;• prepare the accounts on a going concern basis, unless it is inappropriate to presume Foras na Gaeilge will continue inoperation.<strong>The</strong> <strong>Language</strong> <strong>Body</strong> requires Foras na Gaeilge to keep proper accounts and financial records and to prepare a statement ofaccounts in respect of each year.Chief Executive's Responsibilities<strong>The</strong> Chief Executive's responsibilities as the Accountable Person for Foras na Gaeilge, including the responsibility for thepropriety and regularity of the public finances and for the keeping of proper records, are set out in the Financial Memorandumof Foras na Gaeilge.Ferdie Mac an Fhailigh 7/11/2012Chief ExecutiveDate12
