FOREWORD TO THE ACCOUNTSThe Language Body (An Foras Teanga/Tha Boord O Leid) is a North/South Implementation Body sponsored by the Departmentof Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht and the Department of Culture, Arts and Leisure. It was established under the North/SouthCo-operation (Implementation Bodies) (Northern Ireland) Order 1999 and the British-Irish Agreement Act 1999. It reports tothe North South Ministerial Council.The Language Body comprises two agencies:• Foras na Gaeilge• The Ulster-Scots Agency.BASIS OF ACCOUNTINGThe Consolidated Statement of Account of the Language Body discloses for the year of account the:• funding received from the Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht and the Department of Culture, Arts and Leisureand• funding applied to Foras na Gaeilge and the Ulster-Scots Agency.Separate accounts for Foras na Gaeilge and the Ulster-Scots Agency are set out at page 8 and 323
