Lenzie Action GroupThe Group held its annual lunch on24 th January <strong>2013</strong> in Lenzie Union’sNew Hall. This was a time tocelebrate the achievements of theGroup <strong>and</strong> to announce the winnerof the Annual Quiz (fiendishly difficultas usual!)The first prize went to AliceMcKenzie (on the left of the picture herewith Lorna Hall, the Group’s Convenor).After a simple but hearty lunch, wewere entertained by pupils from LenziePrimary, first on the piano <strong>and</strong> then in a varietyof singing <strong>and</strong> dancing turns—the girls in thekilts doing a particularly tongue-twisting <strong>and</strong>rapid action song!The youngest group also sang well or atleast the two who succeededin hanging on to the microphonesdid—stars of thefuture?A big thank you goes toLorna <strong>and</strong> the team ofhelpers who served <strong>and</strong> to thepupils <strong>and</strong> teachers at LenziePrimary for entertaining usso well.10
SCOTLAND PLAYS ITS PARTThere is enough food to feed everyonebut one in eight people on this planetare living in hunger <strong>and</strong> more than twomillion children die each year becausethey can’t get enough to eat. It’s unfair,it’s unjust, <strong>and</strong> it’s totally preventable.We believe everyone can get enoughfood. We believe it’s achievable. In ourlifetime. The world can produce enoughfood for everyone. We can be the generationto give everyone, every family,every child, a life free from hunger.This is the beginning of a journey. Wewant to make <strong>2013</strong> the beginning of theend of hunger, but we need your help.We can only do this we create a campaignthat inspires millions to join in.we create so much noise that ourleaders are compelled to act. AndScotl<strong>and</strong> plays its part within this UKwidecampaign.During <strong>2013</strong> we need Scotl<strong>and</strong>’s politicians,institutions, organisations, faithgroups, private companies <strong>and</strong> individualsto reflect on their role in tacklingglobal hunger <strong>and</strong> to take action. Togetherwe need to confront the sc<strong>and</strong>al ofhunger—its causes <strong>and</strong> consequences,<strong>and</strong> embrace the solutions.Four words are inscribed on the mace ofthe Scottish Parliament: wisdom, justice,compassion, <strong>and</strong> integrity.
