FunctionThe SDE is a motorised circular smoke damper thatprevents fire and smoke from spreading in ventilationducts. If the power in the motorised actuatoris switched off by the system, the blade closesautomatically (Fail-safe Closed).The smoke damper is made of fireproof materials,with a non-combustible ceramic blade gasket. Oncethe damper has closed, the blade and sealing closethe duct tightly, effectively preventing the spreading offire and smoke.InstallationDetailed installation instructions, as well as aninstaller’s installation certificate form, are suppliedwith each product. See also the section ‘Documents /Installation Instructions’.Installation on concrete or masonry walls120/SDE/0000/1107/ENThe SDE smoke damper shall be connected to theMSH control and testing system. The MSH systemenables the use of smoke detectors in ductworkor room spaces. The SDE smoke damper may beconnected to common building automation systemsalso.1 Screw and fixing plugØD1Product size + about 50 mmWhen the smoke damper is installed on a concrete ormasonry wall or ceiling between fire compartments,there are no restrictions on the damper position or airflow direction.An opening always is left in the separating element forthe smoke damper, and the product subsequently isgrouted into this. The size of the installation opening isD+50 mm.To make installation easier, all products come with aninstallation flange, which is used to attach the smokedamper to the concrete surface with screws beforegrouting.The damper and actuator shall be protected duringinstallation with, e.g., a plastic cover.The damper shall be cleaned after installation.The correct operation of the smoke damper must beensured before and after grouting.SDE - Circular Smoke and Fire Damper143

ServicingNo regular maintenance is required for the product.Regular testing with the MSH control and testingsystem is recommended.Upon failure during testing of the smoke evacuationdamper, maintenance service shall be ordered from anauthorised Halton representative to ensure appropriateoperation of the product.Suggested specificationsCircular smoke damper with electric spring-returnactuator and position indicator (Construction basedon certified fire damper FDE; E120; EN 1366-2).
