JamesEmery, Brethren, Sisters,Bands, their families andfriends to the historic villageof Castlecaulfieldto celebrate the 323rdAnniversary of the Battleof the Boyne.May I take this opportunity to thankthe brethren for their help and supportthroughout this busy year.Our 2013 Celebrations began in Februarywhen a mission, led by Mr George Conn,brought a time of wonderful SpiritualBlessing.The annual table quiz and bowls tournamentwere also a success and enjoyed byall who took part.Following on from the mission, Georgereturned in April, when he spoke on theLife, Faith and Works of Cyrus McCormick,synonymous with the mechanicalreaper.June sees our programme gather pacewith the Annual Arch Parade and BBQquickly followed by our three AnniversaryServices in the local churches. Early Julywill allow our more energetic brethren totake part in the 5-a-side Football Competitionto be held on the new 3G SyntheticPitch in the village.As a District we were pleased to financiallysupport the work of The Faith Mission,Co Tyrone Frontier Relief Societyand The Grand Master’s Appeal, whichthis year is the Christian Institute. May Ithank most sincerely all those who haveassisted with and supported our eventsthus far.Our private lodges have been very proactiveover the past number of years.Halls have been improved, bannerettesand banners unfurled and lodge regaliadedicated. The village has benefitedfrom the building of two new houses,the development of a 3G Synthetic Pitchand the establishing of Castle Media, aSocial Enterprise Initiative. I commendall those involved with these projects andcongratulate them for their vision andenterprise.The Orange Institution lost 337 membersduring the “Troubles” in Northern Ireland.We in County Tyrone lost 85 membersleaving behind 44 widows and 24 orphans.As a District Lodge we know firsthandthe sorrow and suffering caused bysuch deaths as we sadly lost 2 of our ownbrethren. I commend the work of theCounty Tyrone Frontier Relief Society asthey continue to support the remainingwidows and orphans of this County.Our Glorious Institution was formed in1795 following the Battle of the Diamondand continues to flourish with membershipthroughout the world. Today, in 2013as in 1795, we must continue to standfirm in our Protestantism as we defendagainst the erosion of our culture andtraditions. As Orangemen we trust in Godand put our Faith and Hope in Jesus Christas Lord and Saviour whilst proclaimingCivil and Religious Liberty for all.Finally, it is my prayer that we will allhave a glorious day on the Twelfth as wegather to celebrate our Culture.
