INTRODUCTIONThe aza-indolizine contains a phenyl ring fused to a imidazole ring asindicated in the structure, hence it is also known as imidazo[1,2-a]pyridine. 1 Theconstitution of imidazo[1,2-a]pyridine was represented by W.L.Mosby. 278692N31N45The group of compound containing imidazo[1,2-a]pyridine moiety areprominent structural feature in a variety of natural products as well as in othercompounds of medicinal interest and have attracted attention for their biologicalactivities.SYNTHETIC ASPECTClassical approaches of imidazo[1,2-a]pyridine involving different type ofreaction has been described as under:(i) Reaction of (arylacetyl) imidazoles with acetylnedicarboxylic esters. 3(ii) Reaction of 2-chloropyridine with 1,2,3-triazoles and subsequentelimination of nitrogen. 4(iii) Cyclizations of 1-(2-alkynyl)-2-aminomethylimidazoles,which are obtainedfrom substituted via six steps. 5(iv) Coupling reaction of 2-aminopyridines with α-halo carbonyl compounds. 6,7(v) Condensation of 2-aminopyridine with global trimer dehydrate in aqueous8NaHSO 3.(vi) One-pot condensations of aldehydes, isonitriles,and 2-aminopyridines. 915Introduction of Chalcone…..
