SYNTHESIS AND THERAPEUTIC EVALUATION OF ETHYL-6-(2-(4-CHLOROPHENYL)-8-METHYL-1H-IMIDAZO[1,2-a]PYRIDINE-3-YL)-4-ARYL-2-OXOCYCLOHEX-3-ENE CARBOXYLATE.The growing potent literature of recent years demonstrates that thecyclohexenone derivatives are used as better therapeutic agents. These findingsprompted us to synthesize a series of ethyl-6-(2-(4-chlorophenyl)-8-methyl-1Himidazo[1,2-a]pyridine-3-yl)-4-aryl-2-oxocyclohex-3-ene-carboxylate.The synthesiswas carried out by the condensation of chalcones with ethylacetoacetate inacetone.CH 3CH 3NNClK 2 CO 3AcetoneMetyl/Ethyl/t-Butylaceto AcetateNCOOR 1NClOWhere,R= ArylRORWhere,R= ArylR 1=Methyl,Ethyl,t-ButylThe constitution of the synthesized products have been characterized usingelemental analyses, IR and 1 H nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy andfurther supported by mass spectroscopy.The products have been screened for their in vitro biological assay likeantibacterial activity towards Gram positive and Gram negative bacterial strainsand antifungal activity towards Aspergillus niger at a concentration of 40 µg.
