Logo Design ProjectCommercial Art 21) You will design 3 different logos – choosing three types of companies from the list below:• Coffee Shop• Restaurant• Clothing Store• Shoe Store• Film / Video Production company• Construction / Plumbing / etc. company• Dance company• School (any level) *this design includesthe incorporation of a mascot• Airline• Skating Rink (ice or roller) / Skate Park• Ad Agency• Video Game (either the company or agame)• Mechanic / Paint & Body Shop• Tattoo Parlor• Band• Music Store (instrument, or CDs/records)• Pet Supply Store• Pet Boarding / Grooming• Coffee Shop2) First, you need to give a name to each of the companies. Write these down on the worksheet on theback of this handout.3) For each logo, you must list 4 adjectives that describe the business and/or name of company. Thiswill give you a starting point to gather some visual imagery. Write these down on the worksheet onthe back of this handout.4) The logos must represent a combination of the three types of logos from your reading.5) Begin with at 4 DIFFERENT thumbnail sketches of each of the businesses. These need to bedetailed and in color (no roughs or comps will be necessary). Have a discussion with Ms. Messerat the end of this stage to help decide the direction your logo should take! (You may discuss onecompany logo at a time, or all of them at once - your choice). You must do this step (thumbnailsand discussion) before going to the computer! Keep these thumbnails because you will be turningthem in at the end of the project!6) Now you can go to your computer! Use Adobe Illustrator to create the final logo for each business.Your document should be set up 5” x 5” (color mode doesn’t matter – you’ll be creating spot colorsfor any color you use in your logo design). When designing these logos, use Illustrator to its potential- make the program work for you. Make use of the vector format, and avoid the use of photographs inyour logos, UNLESS you run them through Live Trace/Live Paint to convert them into vector format!7) When you have finished with each of your logo designs, you may print them out to the colorprinter (print at 100% – do not fit to page). You will also need to print them with trim marks. Mountthe final version of each logo. On the logo worksheet on the back of this handout, please make sureyou have filled out all of the required information. Be sure to attach your thumbnail sketches and turneverything in!This will be your Commercial Art Award opportunity for second quarter! We will have acritique on the final logo design boards, you will evaluate your own logos as well as everyoneelses, and then you will vote on the best-designed logo for each of the 3 categories! There will bea total of 3 Commercial Art awards given for this project!
