Safety information1.1 General remarksThese installation and operating instructions containitems of information of fundamental importancewhich must be taken into consi<strong>de</strong>ration during installation,operation and maintenance. They should thereforebe read without fail before installation andcommissioning by the fitter and the responsiblespecialist staff/operator. They must always be availablefor consultation at the place of use of the installation.Not only are the general safety hints inclu<strong>de</strong>d in this«Safety Information» section to be observed, butalso the special items of safety information inclu<strong>de</strong>din the other sections.1.2 I<strong>de</strong>ntification of noticesCautionThe safety information contained in theseinstallation and operating instructions isspecially marked with the general dangersymbol «Safety sign according to DIN4844-W9». Non-compliance with theseinstructions can lead to danger for people.This symbol is a warning of dangerouselectric voltage. «Safety sign according toDIN 4844-W8».You will find this symbol in the case ofsafety information where non-compliancecan endanger the machine and itsfunctions.Notices attached directly to the plant, for example– arrow indicating direction of rotation– i<strong>de</strong>ntification of fluid connections,must be observed and must be kept completelylegible.1.3 Staff qualification and trainingThe staff <strong>de</strong>ployed for assembly, operating, maintenanceand inspection tasks must have the appropriatequalifications for such work. The field of responsibility,competence and supervision of staff must be stipulate<strong>de</strong>xactly by the operator.1.4 Risks in the event of non-compliancewith safety informationNon-compliance with the safety information canresult in both danger for persons and for the plantand the environment. Non-compliance with thesafety information can lead to the loss of claims fordamages of any kind.Specifically, non-compliance, may result,for example in the following danger:– Failure of important functions in the plant– Failure of prescribed methods for servicingand maintenance– Danger to persons through electricaland mechanical effects1.5 Safety-conscious workThe safety information contained in these installationand operating instructions, the existing nationalregulations for the prevention of acci<strong>de</strong>nts and anyinternal working, operating and safety regulationsstipulated by the operator must be observed.161.6 Safety information for the operator/operatingpersonnelAny risks from electric power must be eliminated(for <strong>de</strong>tails see, for example, the DIN standards(CENELEC) and the local regulations of the powersupply company).1.7 Safety information for installation, maintenanceand inspection workThe operator has to ensure that all installation,maintenance and inspection work is carried out byauthorized and qualified specialist personnel whohave informed themselves a<strong>de</strong>quately by a thoroughstudy of the installation and operating instructions.Basically, any work on the plant should only becarried out when it has been shut down and is notcarrying any electrical current.Directly after completion of the work, all safety andprotective <strong>de</strong>vices must be mounted and activatedagain.Before recommissioning, the points listed in thesection «Electrical connection» must be observed.1.8 Unauthorized conversionand production of sparesConversion of or changes to pumps are permissibleonly after consultation with the manufacturer.Genuine spare parts and accessories authorized bythe manufacturer serve the cause of safety.The use of other parts may ren<strong>de</strong>r liability for theresultant consequences null and void.1.9 Improper operating methodsThe operating reliability of the pumps suppliedis guaranteed only with appropriate application ofthe section «Inten<strong>de</strong>d use» of the installation andoperating instructions. The limits given in thetechnical data must not be excee<strong>de</strong>d on any account.For the sake of the environment ...You will certainly un<strong>de</strong>rstand that it is notpossible to dispense with transportationpackaging.Please help us to protect our environmentand dispose of the materials used in accordancewith the regulations or use themagain.2. Scope of supply and transportation2.1 Scope of supplyThe pumps are supplied from the factory in appropriatepackaging which, if of corresponding size,is suitable for transportation by fork-lift truck, etc.The scope of supply inclu<strong>de</strong>s:– Pump– These installation and operating instructionsIn addition:from DN 80 on, a removable baseplate(according to choice).2.2 TransportationThe threads provi<strong>de</strong>d on the large pumpmotors (over 4 kW) in the stator casing(for the suspension shackles) are nota<strong>de</strong>quately dimensioned for lifting thewhole pump, e.g. with a crane or blockand tackle.
