[SRD ID 53207]3.6 Pre-Planned Product Improvements (P3I)GBS Phase 2 Block-3 (and beyond) employs pre-planned product improvements (P3I) to non-space segmentenhancements to BMS and receive suite capabilities. Block-3 requirements will require additional programfunding to be addressed as initiatives. P3I provides for a technology insertion strategy designed to fully leverageinformation technologies to permit alterations in our concepts of operations, doctrine, organizations, and forcestructure. Every Block-3 requirement should be considered annually during the budget process as an initiative forprioritization and potential implementation. This is a continuous process, meant to create or anticipate the future.P3I is meant to deal with the co-evolution of concepts, processes and organizations and technology, to create newcompetitive areas and new competencies, and to identify, leverage and even create new underlying principles forthe way things are done in order to identify and leverage new sources of power. In this regard, Block-3requirements are transformational in nature, with an objective to sustain competitive advantage.The following subparagraphs describe the P3I requirements:3.6.1 2-Way Transmit Receive SuitesThe following requirements apply only to the Transmit Receive Suites:The Transmit Receive Suite (TRS) shall be composed of a receive terminal and RBM to provide RCS capability,to support “user pull” requests, via connectivity through a Teleport and DISN core. [SRD ID 60000]The 2-way capability of the GBS Transmit Receive Suites shall be supported by the DECC architecture. [SRD ID60100]The SBM software shall support the GBS TRS capability of transmitting and receiving 2-way data between theRBM, via the GBS space segments with an RCS having connectivity to the DISN. (Objective) [SRD ID 61000] The Government envisions that theGBS receive software being integrated into a Joint Tactical Mobile Radio developed through a futureprocurement.The Ground Mobile Receive Suite shall be integrated, tested, and certified with the JIPM (one-way) andGBS RBM software.
