Winning streak for <strong>the</strong> Puglia and Lombardiaaffiliate ridersO<strong>the</strong>r two classes of <strong>the</strong> Regional Cup were held yesterday; <strong>the</strong> Youthand <strong>the</strong> Novice Rider one hand.The Youth class finally showed a good number of entries, 13, and ahigh level of competition. The youth riders from Puglia showed <strong>the</strong>irabilities to <strong>the</strong>ir best and it was Milena Mastropierro, a 13 year oldstudent from Terlizzi near Bari, that won <strong>the</strong> class with a score of 210.5.Milena rides with trainer Eugenio Latorre and was seen riding Cb DryCatalyst, a bay horse by Snapper Cal Bar out of Centennial Catalystwho had been trained by Francesco Arrighi.Great Cody, and tying for fourth were Daniele Salvalaggio, - fromLombardia - riding Bimbo Flower Otoe and Barbara Braun with VanBar Five. Barbara from Mallersdofr, Germany, and was born in 1971.She participates in <strong>the</strong> Trentino Alto Adige Regional Association circuitwhere she won <strong>the</strong> Championship title in this division. She is one of<strong>the</strong> numerous non pros that ride with Luis Kompatscher. Her 6 yearold horse bred by Rentao Lomagno, Van Bar Five, is by Pepper Prideand out of <strong>the</strong> famous mare Van Bar San Giorgio.Reserve Youth Champion three and a half points from <strong>the</strong> winner wasAntonio Zagaria who tied for <strong>the</strong> Regional Championship Youth titlewith Milena. Zagaria is also Regional Champion for <strong>the</strong> <strong>Limited</strong> NonPro division with a different horse. Here, <strong>the</strong> 15 year old rider followedby trainer Donato Casciaro from Barletta (Bari) showed Five Of FiveSpirit (Snapper Cal Bar x Spirit of Five), a chestnut quarter horse bornat Cuoghi Q.H. and trained by Kelly Zweiffel.Daniele Mascarello in this class made up for <strong>the</strong> ride off pattern he hadin <strong>the</strong> FISE championship on Thursday and placed third with a scoreof 204.5 (68, 68, 68.5) astride Jay Ima Bess (Jay Joker Bo x I'm AFederico Naef e Ml Oak Royal KingMilena Mastropietro e Cb Dry CatalystYellow Bess). The palomino quarter horse was bred by Mirko Piazziand trained by Luis Kompatscher and Giuseppe Prevosti. Prevosti,along with Renzo Canciani, is Daniele's instructor, and <strong>the</strong> two lead <strong>the</strong>young rider to win <strong>the</strong> Lombardia Regional Youth Championship.In fourth place o<strong>the</strong>r two regional champions: Francesca Fontana whorides in Tuscany with trainer Adriano Meacci and Andrea Rigobon whorides in Veneto. 16 year old Francesca before riding with Meacci rodewith Max Canu and Aldo Lorenzoni and here was seen showing SnappyBar Cody, nicknamed Snapperina, who is also by Snapper Cal Bar butout of Prescription Cody. Andrea Rigobon is from Padova and rideswith Enrico Rossato. 'Blondy' is his mounts' nickname; her name isCassandra Pine (Jacs Little Pine and Missy Grinder) and was bred aswell as trained by Rossato himself.Luca Panuzzi e Bay River PeppyThe Novice Rider one hand division saw 24 entries and was won byano<strong>the</strong>r rider from Lombardia with a score of 215 (72, 72, 71). Winnerwas Federico Naef from Lugano, city where he was born and where helives today. Even though Federico only started riding a year ago,followed by his instructors Yosi Ohana and Sabrina Bolla, he won <strong>the</strong>regional 2001 champion title in this class with his horse born at <strong>the</strong>Latorre Q.H. and trained by Tim Curtiss, Ml Oak Royal King (SR GreatOak x Kachina Lena).Reserve Champion title went to Luca Panunzi who rides for <strong>the</strong> smallbut active Puglia Reining Horse Association where he rides with P.Vitali and F. Scuriatti. Born in 1968 he showed Bay River Pepper,nicknamed 'Beppone', and is by a stallion that stood for a few years atFerrarini Quarter Horses, River Walk. He is out of Pepper Mate, is 7years of age and was trained by <strong>the</strong> Australian professional rider RobLawson who for some time headed <strong>the</strong> Ferrarini facility. Third placewith a score of 206.5 went to Ginevra Dini from Tuscany astride HowdeeDino Zagaria e Five Of Five Spirit
