Girls will network with peers and be mentored by experiencedwomen to develop knowledge and skills for future <strong>leadership</strong> roles.The LGLA program focuses on:• Communication• Situational <strong>leadership</strong>• Public service and responsible citizenship• Current issues in Louisiana public policyLGLA will include an annual Leadership Service Project. FEATURED SPEAKERSAyla BrownCountry music star & American Idol semifinalist, AylaBrown has pursued a diverse range of endeavors over thelast six years. Her achievements include: American IdolSemifinalist, recording artist of four albums, nationaland local performances, involvement in numerouscharitable causes, National Anthem singer for thePhiladelphia 76ers, and national news correspondentfor The Early Show on CBS. From 2006- 2010, Ayla was a NCAA Division1 Student/Athlete and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Communicationsfrom Boston College. In January of 2012, Ayla released a self-titled countryalbum. The album was produced by Ayla and she also co-wrote seven outof the nine tracks on the CD. In early December, Ayla released a patrioticinspiredEP titled, “Heroes and Hometowns.” The project was sponsoredby New Balance and part of every CD sale goes to benefit Hugs for Heroes,Inc., a military non-profit out of Massachusetts. “Pride of America” is thefirst single released on that EP.Craig ScottCraig Scott was at the scene of the worst high schoolshooting in U.S. history at Columbine High School.Craig was in the school library where ten classmateswere killed and over twenty wounded. After witnessingtwo of his friends murdered next to him, Craig led agroup of students out of the school. Later that day, hewould discover that his sister, Rachel Joy Scott, was thefirst to be killed. Craig has had numerous appearances on such shows asOprah, Today Show, Good Morning America, Dateline, 20/20, MSNBC,CNN and many others. He has spoken to over a million people. Craig is alsoan up and coming filmmaker. His ultimate goal is to tell stories that inspire.Seeing how media impacts teenagers and learning that the two shootersat Columbine were deeply impacted by violent movies, Craig wants topositively affect audiences with stories of ennobling characters.Scott AngelleThe Honorable Scott Angelle currently serves asLouisiana Public Service Commissioner. He has servedas Secretary of the Louisiana Department of NaturalResources, Governor Jindal’s legislative liaison, and asinterim Lt. Governor of Louisiana. Angelle will assistLGLA by presenting the five E’s as the academy’s publicpolicy focus.Sen. Sharon Weston BroomeSen. Sharon Weston Broome, President Pro Tempore forthe Louisiana <strong>State</strong> Senate, is the first African-Americanwoman elected to represent District 15. Prior to winningthe Senate seat in 2004 and 2007, she served in theLouisiana House of Representatives (District 29) for 12years and was the first woman elected as Speaker Pro Tem.She will assist in the Legislative Women’s Caucus luncheonexperience in Baton Rouge.FEATURED SPEAKERSBear BadeauxBear is an improv veteran having trained at Groundlings,IOWEST, ACME, and LA Connection. He currently hasa main stage show at IOWEST with his group LESS HOTDOG performing a unique form called the Labyrinth.Bear was nominated for BEST NEW SHOW and MOSTSUPPORTIVE IMPROVISOR at the 2012 Del CloseAwards. He currently teaches Improv at Dan VelezActing Studio in Hollywood. Look for Bear in Season 2 of AIM HIGH andthe upcoming feature NIGHT EYES.Crystal RiversCrystal studies improv at IOWEST and Dan VelezActing Studio in Hollywood. She performs in theimprov shows I-Intern and CATSBY. Kathleen Babineaux BlancoKathleen Babineaux Blanco is the first woman to beelected Governor of Louisiana. In her long career ofpublic service, she has distinguished herself and Louisianain various positions of ever-increasing responsibility.Blanco has served in state offices since 1984, when shebecame the first woman ever elected to represent thepeople of Lafayette in the state legislature.
