Admission and Entry1.1 General Academic Admissiona) Candidates are required to have ga<strong>in</strong>ed:i) the award of a degree conferred by a New Zealand tertiary education <strong>in</strong>stitution;orii)iii)an equivalent qualification; and/or<strong>in</strong>dustry experience approved by the Centre Director.1.2 Special AdmissionDomestic applicants aged 20 years or above who have not met the General Admission or entryrequirements for a programme but whose skills, education or work experience <strong>in</strong>dicate that theyhave a reasonable chance of success 1 may be eligible for Special Admission. Special admissionwill be granted at the discretion of the relevant Head of School/Centre Director or designatednom<strong>in</strong>ee. Such applicants may be required to successfully complete a foundation, bridg<strong>in</strong>g ortertiary <strong>in</strong>troductory programme as a condition of entry <strong>in</strong>to higher level programmes.1.3 Provisional EntryDomestic applicants aged under 20 years who have not met the general academic admission andentry criteria for a programme but who can demonstrate a reasonable chance of successthrough other educational atta<strong>in</strong>ment and/or work or life experience may be eligible forprovisional entry at the discretion of the relevant Head of School/Centre Director or designatednom<strong>in</strong>ee. Provisional entry places restrictions on re‐enrolment to be lifted if the applicant’sperformance is deemed satisfactory by the relevant Head of School/Centre Director ordesignated nom<strong>in</strong>ee.1.4 Selection CriteriaCandidates seek<strong>in</strong>g entry solely on the basis of <strong>in</strong>dustry experience will be required todemonstrate, through their written application and curriculum vitae, and an <strong>in</strong>terview, that theyhave substantial professional experience related to event management or similar activities.1.5 English Language Requirements1Education Act 1989 Section 224 (3)<strong>Graduate</strong> <strong>Diploma</strong> <strong>in</strong> <strong>Practical</strong> <strong>Event</strong> <strong>Management</strong> (<strong>Level</strong> 7)Version: 15.00AAC: 02.09.14 Page 1 of 2


Programme Regulations for:Candidates who have English as a second language are required to have an International EnglishLanguage Test System (IELTS) score of 6.0, with no <strong>in</strong>dividual band score lower than 5.5; orequivalent.2. Transfer of Credit2.1 Transfer of credit at graduate level is case by case but will not exceed more than 50% of theprogramme.3. Programme Requirements3.1 Every candidate for the <strong>Graduate</strong> <strong>Diploma</strong> <strong>in</strong> <strong>Practical</strong> <strong>Event</strong> <strong>Management</strong> shall to thesatisfaction of the Academic Board follow a programme of study for a period of normally not lessthan one year of full‐time study or up to five years of part‐time study.3.2 Each candidate’s programme of study for the <strong>Graduate</strong> <strong>Diploma</strong> shall comprise of eightcompulsory modules listed <strong>in</strong> Section 6, Part A and Part B below, totall<strong>in</strong>g 120 credits.4. Completion of the ProgrammeCandidates may take up to five years to complete this programme, unless an extension is granted byspecial permission of the Centre Director, or designated equivalent.5. Award of the Qualification5.1 Candidates who successfully complete the requirements <strong>in</strong> clauses 3.1 and 3.2 of theseregulations will receive the award of the <strong>Graduate</strong> <strong>Diploma</strong> <strong>in</strong> <strong>Practical</strong> <strong>Event</strong> <strong>Management</strong>(<strong>Level</strong> 7).5.2 Candidates who only successfully complete the Part A modules <strong>in</strong> Section 6 of these regulations(60 credits) may exit the programme with the award of the <strong>Graduate</strong> Certificate <strong>in</strong> <strong>Event</strong><strong>Management</strong> (<strong>Level</strong> 7).6.
