CCU 100Acquiring meter data is one half of the equation in a successful fixed network system. The other half is delivering that information back to the utility. With the onset of advancedmetering initiatives and more robust collection of interval and event data, ensuring yourinformation arrives where and when it should becomes critical. Devices that transportdata across the network are a critical link, connecting utility and consumer.Itron’s new CCU 100 makes that linkstronger than ever. The CCU 100 (alsoknown as a collector) reads data from Itronelectricity meters, gas and water endpoints, and repeaters. Data is forwarded fromthe collector to the utility over a publicwide area network (cellular-based WAN orbroadband) or a private WAN supportingIP-addressable packet data. Data isautomatically uploaded to the Itron FixedNetwork Software and can be used forbilling as well as advanced applicationsand analysis in a meter data managementsystem. Data uploads occur at scheduledintervals. The CCU 100 can also facilitateon-demand requests when needed.Collectors operate on a 120/240 autosensingvolt service and are equippedwith a backup battery. In the event of anoutage, the collector sends an alarm tothe Itron Fixed Network Software withinformation describing various events, including power loss, restoration, and lowbatteryconditions.FEATURES AND BENEFITSItron’s latest fixed-network collector, theCCU 100, supports the needs of today’sevolving utility by providing:»»Two-way communication to endpointsand to the repeater to collect on-demandreads and issue network commands»»Robust collection of time-synchronizedinterval data, when coupled with a meterdata management system, helps utilities:• Improve customer service• Refine forecast consumption• Manage and control tamper and theft• Develop new rate-based and customerincentive programs• Better respond to customer“what-if” questions»»Time-synchronization of endpoint clocks, ensuring data collected territory-wide isaccurately time-stamped»»Retrieval of missing interval data in theevent of a network outage»»A compact device footprint that islightweight and unobtrusive»»Flexible and easy installationincluding tower, building or utilitypole-mount options»»Low power consumption»»Solar-powered configurations forlocations where hard-wired power is notreadily available»»Multiple communication options forpublic and private WAN backhauls.Public and private technologies can becombined in a deployment, providinga hybrid approach best suited to thecommunication strengths of a given areaSPECIFICATIONS
