Convention Committee Report;Greetings Club members. The convention is barely 10 months away. We have had a good meeting on Monday 28 thMay 2012 and have detailed to my committee members areas of responsibility which theywill with the help of all members of the club form subcommittees to come back to theconvention committee in due course with the direction we will progress in with each sectionof the weekend. This is a project which it is important that all commit themselves to. I wouldhope that the team leaders get your support and I thank those that put their names forwardat the last Business meeting. Unfortunately I am away for the next tea meeting but I hopethat the subcommittees will form and start the business of planning each segment of theweekend. We have a lot of expenses to carry to make this a successful weekend and we will need toraise funds through sponsorship etc. I would urge you all to contact Lion Royce who willcoordinate this activity. I am sure that we can all obtain some funding or goods in kind forraffles, etc. I challenge everyone in the club to provide something that will benefit theconvention in some form.We have our first expense that is not permitted to come from Convention Committee funds, and I feel should not be on Lion Pete our DG Elect to pay out of his resources. So at ournext Business Meeting I will be asking the Club to Fund the purchase of the DG Banner, which is now being produced at a cost of $2202.50.for 150 banners. This is just the sort ofcommitment we need to make our clubs representative as the next DG. If you want anyfurther information on this please feel free to call me.Last weekend I travelled to Cheviot to present my first report to cabinet. It was a mostinteresting day.I look forward to your continued supportPaulHalswell and District Lions Club Convention CommitteePaul OConnor M.B.E.ChairmanMob; 021353753Home: 033221592Halswell.convention2013@hotmail.compaul.oconnor@xtra.co.nz
