WP 2.4 Implementation of Pilot EvaluationData gathered in this task will be used to identify obstacles and constraints to theintroduction of sustainable access operations of a technical, organisational, legal,cultural and context-specific nature. As the evaluation seeks to generate inputs to helpoptimise mature services, data on the effectiveness and efficiency of existing servicesbased amongst other things on the outcomes of evaluation by user groups will also becollected and collated. The deliverable here will be a draft report for each of the fourterritories of the pilot and will include generic results of relevance throughout Europe.subtitlingThe results of tests carried out with deaf, hard-of-hearing and hearing participantsacross three countries, Belgium, Spain, and Italy will be compiled. The tests will obtainviewers’ opinions on five formal subtitling parameters: font, size, position, justification,character identification, and the use of boxes, borders, shadows, icons and emoticons insubtitles. To validate the data obtained, the results of comprehension tests andvalidation tests using eye-tracking technology will be collated to produce empiricalevidence of the formal subtitling parameters preferred by the viewers.The results of tests about the viewers’ comprehension of subtitles across sevencountries: Spain, France, Belgium, Italy, Greece, and Denmark, will be compiled.
