It is at this moment when the systemgives the volume value to the AD and creates the DVB –T transport stream with the ADchannel codified in an optional secondary audio channel.The things to be tested are the convenience of the workflow for efficiency, functionalsecurity and adequacy to the needs of the blind and visually impaired people.4.1.4.2- Sign languageThe content chosen for test by TVC is a group of 3 news leads summarising the leadstories at 3 moments of the day: 9:00, 10:00 and 18:00 hours. The duration of the leadsis 5 to 10 minutes depending on their contents.The translators to signing language are a pool of 3-4 persons with very close contactwith the deaf associations, so they receive continuous close feedback from the users.The format of presentation is a fixed window of approximately 1/5 of the surface ofscreen. The signing signal is produced in a secondary studio with a neutral background.The colours of the translators’ dresses are recommended to be dark to favour thevisibility of hands and face of the translator. The signing video is superimposed on themain signal in a rectangular window in the main continuity video mixer.There are meetings with some regularity in one of the associations for viewing in agroup the signed news. This gives an idea of the possibilities for social contact with theusers. Feedback is gathered from users groups primarily in an informal way but also inmore systematic ways.Tests are to be made with groups of 10 – 15 users, asking for preferences throughcomparison of pairs of videos and putting questions to the users to check theirunderstanding, recall, and satisfaction with the format and the service. If the necessaryequipment is available, additional tests under laboratory conditions can be made incollaboration with UAB. This is to be planned in the coming weeks with UAB.Page 22
