In addition to the existing4.5 MTPA Pellet Plant, JSPL is setting up a4.5 MTPA Iron Ore pelletisation plant,with wet grinding process for betterenvironmental protection and superiorquality of pellets for steel making.The pelletisation will be a value-addedprocess of iron ore fines and betterutilisation of powdery ore availablein the mines. The plant will meet ourcaptive requirements.As JSPL is actively engaged in thepromotion of alternative fuels, at Barbil,the pellet production will be throughcoal gasification, replacing fuel. This isan innovative initiative, first-of-its-kind inthe world, using circulating fluidised bedtechnology for coal gasification.Tensa, Odisha(Iron Ore mine)JSPL’s iron ore mine at Tensa caters tothe Company’s requirement of iron orefor producing sponge iron. As part ofJSPL’s backward integration plans tomake the Company self-reliant, iron orefrom Tensa mine ensures consistency inraw material quality. A 350 TPH crushingplant, a mobile screening unit is beingoperated to ensure the availability ofhigh-grade iron ore and fines for sinterplant at Raigarh (Chhattisgarh).These mines are accredited with ISO9001:2008 (Quality ManagementSystem), ISO 14001:2004 (EnvironmentManagement System) and OHSAS18001:2007 (Occupational Health andSafety Management System). Operatedin an eco-friendly manner, the mineeffectively controls pollution levels.For the adoption of best environmentmanagement practices, the mines havebeen conferred with the ‘PollutionControl Appreciation Award under theCategory mines’ given by the StatePollution Control Board, Odisha.
