10 th <str<strong>on</strong>g>Symposium</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>on</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Flora</strong> <strong>of</strong> Sou<strong>the</strong>astern <strong>Serbia</strong> <strong>and</strong> Neighbouring regi<strong>on</strong>s,Vlasina 17 to 20 June 2010energije, respiratori u biosintezama, a imaju i antikancerogene osobine. Zaantioksidaci<strong>on</strong>u aktivnost posebno je važna 3-OH grupa (C-prstena – Slika 1) ukombinaciji sa kateholnom strukturom B-prstena. Značaj ove pozicije (tamo gde jeima, kao što je to slučaj sa flav<strong>on</strong>olima čiji je prestavnik kvercetin) se izmeđuostalog može oceniti kompariranjem stabilnosti kvercetina i rutina (predstavnikaflav<strong>on</strong>a koji nema 3-OH grupu) u odnosu na spolja indukovani stres, kao što jenpr.UV zračenje. Ali i različit položaj istih supstituenata na B-prstenu (meta- i ortopoložajOH-grupa, u slučaju morina i kvercetina, respektivno) može uticati nastabilnost flav<strong>on</strong>oida. Odgovor biljaka na povećano prisustvo visoko-energetičneUV-B frakcije u spektru sunčevog zračenja jeste između ostalog i povećana sintezaUV-B apsorbujućih pigmenata, i to flav<strong>on</strong>oida pre svega (”screening” efekatflav<strong>on</strong>oida). Ovaj rad se bavi pitanjem stabilnost kvercetina, morina i i rutina nadejstvo zračenja iz tri UV-podopsega (UV-A, 320-400 nm; UV-B, 290-320 nm; UV-C, 200-280 nm) u rastvoru metanola. Pokazano je najpre da 3-OH grupa imapresudan uticaj na fotostabilnost flav<strong>on</strong>oida – jedinjenja koja imaju ovu grupu sumnogo manje otporna na zračenje UV-svetlošću: u ovom slučaju kvercetin podležebržoj destrukciji (bleaching-u) od rutina, pri čemu je bleaching energetski zavistan(opada po redosledu UV-C > UV-B > UV-A). Ali, takodje je pokazano da jedetektovani UV-efekat različit za dva flav<strong>on</strong>ola (kvercetin i morin); morin podležebržoj destrukciji, a u njegovom apsorpci<strong>on</strong>om spektru detektovana je i potpuno novatraka što ukazuje na značajne pr omene u njegovoj strukturi.Essential Oil Compositi<strong>on</strong> <strong>of</strong> Stachys menthifolia Vis.Sanja Ćavar, Milka Maksimović, Marija Edita ŠolićDepartment <strong>of</strong> Chemistry, Faculty <strong>of</strong> Science, University <strong>of</strong> Sarajevosanja.cavar@pmf.unsa.baStachys menthifolia Vis. (Lamiaceae) is an endemic species from <strong>the</strong> BalkanPeninsula spread throughout Albania, Greece, M<strong>on</strong>tenegro, <strong>and</strong> Croatia. Aerial parts<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> plant were collected from its natural habitat near Dubrovnik. Hydrodistilledvolatile oil obtained from <strong>the</strong> plant material <strong>of</strong> S. menthifolia was subjected to gaschromatographic analysis coupled to mass spectrometry. More than 70 compoundswere identified, representing 94.5% <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> total oil. The major c<strong>on</strong>stituents <strong>of</strong> oilwere diterpenoid abietatriene (11.7%), <strong>and</strong> sesquiterpene hydrocarb<strong>on</strong>s alphabisabolene(8.4%), <strong>and</strong> beta-caryophyllene (7.4%). Presented results are comparableto our previous findings <strong>on</strong> essential oil compositi<strong>on</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> same species fromBiokovo Mountain, with small differences in quantitative <strong>and</strong> qualitativec<strong>on</strong>stituti<strong>on</strong> <strong>of</strong> oil. Although plants bel<strong>on</strong>ging to <strong>the</strong> Stachys genus show significantvariability in <strong>the</strong>ir chemical compositi<strong>on</strong>s depending <strong>on</strong> <strong>the</strong> locati<strong>on</strong> <strong>and</strong> stage <strong>of</strong>89
