Several taxa with insufficiently known distributi<strong>on</strong> <strong>and</strong>/orc<strong>on</strong>sidered to be rare were recorded. These are: Cephalaria pastricensis Dörfler &Hayek, Cruciata balcanica Ehrend., Silene vallesia L. subsp. graminea (Vis. &Reichenb.) Nyman , Dianthus nitidus Waldst.& Kit. subsp. lakusicii Wraber ,Achillea fraassi Schultz Bip. <strong>and</strong> Tozzia alpina L.C<strong>on</strong>tributi<strong>on</strong> to <strong>the</strong> bryophyte flora <strong>of</strong> South-Eastern<strong>Serbia</strong>: Suva Planina Mts <strong>and</strong> its surroundingsPapp, B. 1 , Erzberger, P. 21 Hungarian Natural History Museum, Hungary2 Botanischer Garten und Botanisches Museum Berlin-Dahlem, FreieUniversität Berlin, Königin-Luise-Straße 6-814195 Berlin, Germanypappbea@bot.nhmus.huAltoge<strong>the</strong>r 229 bryophyte taxa (25 liverworts <strong>and</strong> 204 mosses) were collectedduring a field trip made in 2006 in SE <strong>Serbia</strong> (Suva Planina, Sićevačka gorge, Jermagorge). 11 taxa (3 liverworts <strong>and</strong> 8 mosses) are recorded for <strong>the</strong> first time in <strong>Serbia</strong>.Two species occurring in <strong>the</strong> investigated area (Pseudoleskea saviana, Taxiphyllumdensifolium) are red listed in Europe <strong>and</strong> 19 species are included in <strong>the</strong> preliminarynati<strong>on</strong>al red list <strong>of</strong> <strong>Serbia</strong>. The bryophyte flora <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> investigated regi<strong>on</strong> is verydiverse. In <strong>the</strong> mountain area <strong>the</strong> high number <strong>of</strong> boreal <strong>and</strong> subboreal species ischaracteristic besides <strong>the</strong> predominance <strong>of</strong> species <strong>of</strong> temperate z<strong>on</strong>es <strong>of</strong> Europe.While around <strong>the</strong> high peaks several species with even alpine, subalpine-subarcticcharacter can be found, <strong>on</strong> <strong>the</strong> lower parts <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> mountain <strong>and</strong> in <strong>the</strong> gorges at <strong>the</strong>foothills numerous sub-Mediterranean, sub-Atlantic taxa occur.35
