10 th <str<strong>on</strong>g>Symposium</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>on</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Flora</strong> <strong>of</strong> Sou<strong>the</strong>astern <strong>Serbia</strong> <strong>and</strong> Neighbouring regi<strong>on</strong>s,Vlasina 17 to 20 June 2010meadows <strong>and</strong> edge <strong>of</strong> bright deciduous forests <strong>of</strong> western <strong>and</strong> southwestern Eurasia<strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> Mediterranean regi<strong>on</strong>. It is known as aromatic plant <strong>and</strong> widely used intraditi<strong>on</strong>al medicine <strong>and</strong> pharmacy. Plant material was collected from <strong>the</strong> Pčinjariver gorge, around Trgovište in south <strong>Serbia</strong>. The total phenolic c<strong>on</strong>tent <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>extracts ranged from 46.71 mg/g to 275.12 mg/g dry weight <strong>of</strong> extract, expressed asgallic acid equivalents. The total flav<strong>on</strong>oid c<strong>on</strong>centrati<strong>on</strong>s varied from 22.85 mg/g to136.59 mg/g, expressed as rutin equivalents. Antioxidant activity <strong>of</strong> extracts wereexpressed as IC50 values (µg/ml) <strong>and</strong> ranged from 786.19 µg/mL to 28.82 µg/mL.Methanolic e xstract had <strong>the</strong> highest phenol c<strong>on</strong>centrati<strong>on</strong> <strong>of</strong> 275.12 mg/g <strong>and</strong> str<strong>on</strong>gantioxidant activity <strong>of</strong> 28.82 µg/mL. The significant linear correlati<strong>on</strong> wasc<strong>on</strong>firmed between <strong>the</strong> values for <strong>the</strong> c<strong>on</strong>centrati<strong>on</strong> <strong>of</strong> phenolic compounds <strong>and</strong>antioxidant activity <strong>of</strong> plant extracts. The high c<strong>on</strong>tents <strong>of</strong> phenolic compounds <strong>and</strong>flav<strong>on</strong>oids indicated that <strong>the</strong>se compounds c<strong>on</strong>tribute to <strong>the</strong> str<strong>on</strong>g antioxidantactivity. Ističe se ka<strong>on</strong>epravilna kupa i nadvišuje ostalo pobrđe južno od Beograda, sa nadmorskomvisinom od 511 m. Geološki sastav Avalu odvaja od susednih planina. Geološkugrađu čine sedimenti d<strong>on</strong>je krede, serpentin i eruptivne naslage.I zemljište Avale vrlo je struktuirano i pripada tipovima: smeđe lesivirano,pseudoglejno, kiselo smeđe, eutrično smeđe i gajnjače.Ovakvi prirodni uslovi u kombinaciji sa klimatskim faktorima uslovili supojavu raznovrsne flore. Dosadašnjim istraživanjima k<strong>on</strong>statovano je oko 600biljnih vrsta, svrstanih u 86 familija, i 317 rodova, od čega lekovitoj flori pripadaoko 150 vrsta.S obzirom da se Avala nalazi na južnom rubu Beograda, da se na njoj nalazitoranj koji je jako posećen, to je ovo područje k<strong>on</strong>taminirano putem aerozagađenja.Istraživali smo prisustvo teških metala akumuliranih u biljnim tkivima lekovitih106
