(Geraniaceae) from two habitats <strong>on</strong> Vidlic Mt. <strong>on</strong>Eastern <strong>Serbia</strong>. The first group <strong>of</strong> plant samples used for determinati<strong>on</strong>, wereobtained from <strong>the</strong> habitat that is affected by fire two years ago. Measuring werecarried out simultaneously in samples <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> c<strong>on</strong>trol group <strong>of</strong> plants from habitatn<strong>on</strong>affected by fire. Determinati<strong>on</strong> <strong>of</strong> enzyme activity was carried out at <strong>the</strong> root,leaves <strong>and</strong> flowers <strong>of</strong> plant species G. macrorrhizum. Catalase activity wasmeasured using <strong>the</strong> gasometric method <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> values obtained for <strong>the</strong> activity wereexpressed as ml <strong>of</strong> O2 for 3 minutes. Values obtained for <strong>the</strong> catalase activity <strong>on</strong>parts <strong>of</strong> plants from <strong>the</strong> habitat affected by fire ranged from 11.36 to 17.17 mlO2/3min. Values for activity in plant parts <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> c<strong>on</strong>trol group <strong>of</strong> plant ranged from8.56 to 12.12 ml O2/3min. Presented results show a significant increase in catalaseactivity in individuals from habitats affected by fire in relati<strong>on</strong> to <strong>the</strong> c<strong>on</strong>trol group.Increased catalase activity is a c<strong>on</strong>sequence <strong>of</strong> oxidative stress caused by chemicalchanges in soil that generated by fire.102
