The driver willhelp you board the train by placing a ramp between the platformand the first door of the fr<strong>on</strong>t carriage.Passengers who need help boarding trains should wait <strong>on</strong> theplatform near the fr<strong>on</strong>t of the train. On a metropolitan platform,this is marked with a yellow or white rectangle <strong>on</strong> the pavement.To help the driver, it is best to write your destinati<strong>on</strong> <strong>on</strong> a note.At Premium Stati<strong>on</strong>s you can get a note from the customerservice centre before you travel. If you are at an unstaffed stati<strong>on</strong>,you can use your own note.If you are travelling in a group and travelling from a PremiumStati<strong>on</strong>, please call the stati<strong>on</strong> ahead of time. The majority of services <strong>on</strong>Routes 96 and 109 are low-floor trams.Low-floor trams have two allocated spaces for passengers using<str<strong>on</strong>g>mobility</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>aids</str<strong>on</strong>g>. This area is inside the double-door marked with awheelchair symbol.Some low-floor trams have butt<strong>on</strong>s that alert the driver to activatethe ‘bridging plate’ to bridge the gap between the tram andthe platform. On other low-floor trams, a specially marked callbutt<strong>on</strong> overrides the automatic door closing mechanism to allowpassengers using wheelchairs or <str<strong>on</strong>g>mobility</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>aids</str<strong>on</strong>g> extra time to enterand exit the tram. In Ballarat, all services are wheelchairaccessible.At the stop, the bus driver places a ramp betweenthe fr<strong>on</strong>t door of the bus and the kerb of the road. SmartBusvehicles are able to ‘meet’ the bus stop at the same level andeliminate a ‘step’ to board the bus.To find out which bus services are wheelchair-accessible, checkyour timetable before you travel. Accessible services are shownwith an access symbol <strong>on</strong> the fr<strong>on</strong>t of printed timetablebooklets or with the letter ‘W’ (wheelchair) or ‘LF’ (low-floor)next to the relevant service.
