7.5 Foster Care<br />

All children in foster care are provided with general practitioner medical and surgical<br />

services. Children who are fostered in accordance with the Boarding-Out Regulations are<br />

provided with individual <strong>Medical</strong> <strong>Card</strong>s.<br />

8 Appeals<br />

Applicants for ac <strong>Medical</strong> <strong>Card</strong>/GP <strong>Visit</strong> <strong>Card</strong> should be advised in writing of the HSE<br />

decision.<br />

Where it is decided to grant a GP <strong>Visit</strong> <strong>Card</strong> in lieu of a <strong>Medical</strong> <strong>Card</strong> a full explanation<br />

of the decision should be notified to the applicant.<br />

In all cases a “Right of Appeal” notification should accompany each refusal decision.<br />
