If you move your cursor on one of the data fields a brief explanation will be displayed. Clicking on New Telemetry requests a new set of telemetry data. Only data which apply to the collar’s configuration and sensors are displayed. All other fields are disabled. No.: GPS Plus Collar Manager Date: 7.3.12 VECTRONIC Aerospace The collar has several user configurable features: Mortality and hibernation sensor, activity sensor, collar UTC correction, VHF beacon sound pattern, RF transmitter window, and communication parameter. In the Collar Configuration menu, you can read the current configuration and change it. This will only work with registered collars. After changing configurations, we advise to save a Collar Information file with Save Collar Information (see 4.4.7). It summarises all current settings of the collar and is a valuable information while the collar is on the animal or if you want to communicate with VECTRONIC about problems with a collar’s performance. You can refresh the current settings reading from the collar at any time by clicking the read button and write new settings with the write button. Only the features available with your collar will be enabled. The others will be disabled and are thus not changeable. 4.4.3.1 Time – UTC correction For technical reasons, the collars will always run on UTC (Universal Time Code) which is also used by the GPS satellite system. You can enable the collar to calculate schedules with UTC Correction (Figure 75). In this case you can program the schedules in LMT (Local Mean Time) and the collar will correct the times according to the user-defined UTC correction. If you do not enable this option, UTC will be used. Figure 75: Configuration of UTC Correction 4.4.3.2 GPS Tracking Time For each scheduled GPS fix, the GPS device of the collar will take several positions in a predefined time and store the most precise of these positions. To increase the accuracy of a position (and thus decrease its mean deviation), the tracking time of the GPS device can be extended for up to 45 seconds. Though this will increase the accuracy of the stored fix, it will also increase the energy consumption of the collar and can considerably decrease the collar’s lifetime.
