Figure 17: Mail Server tab sheet with dummy data as example
SMTP Host : Name of your SMTP Host
SMTP Port: May be left blank since most SMTP hosts use the default port; only few will use a
different port.
SMTP User ID and SMTP Password: applies only for hosts that require SMTP Authentication.
If your Internet Service Provider does not use authentication, leave this fields empty. SMTP
Password will display an asterisk for every character typed in it.
The Reply Address field should contain a valid email address, where the recipient can reply to
and get in contact with you. It is not necessary to enter an address here but it is strongly
recommended.
The Return Path should contain a valid email address that will be used to send an error report
to if an error occurs on mail delivery. It is not necessary to enter an address here, but it is
strongly recommended.
Authentication defines the method of authentication used for the SMTP server by GPS Plus.
With Max Connections you can adjust the maximum number of concurrent connections to
your SMTP Server. When reading data from Argos the number of positions coming in is
quite large. GPS Plus will open several connections to increase the speed of outgoing
emails, but some providers limit the number of possible concurrent connections.
Test: To test the SMTP connection a form has been included in GPS Plus. Click on Test to
open this form (see Figure 18).
