Applicants to the Section 8 Moderate Rehabilitation Single Room Occupancy(SRO) Program for Homeless Individuals, under 24 CFR 882, may beadmitted to the program without providing the requested documentation (prioror at admission), however, the individual must provide the PHA with suchdocumentation within 90 calendar days from the date of admission. (ThePHA may grant the individual one 90-day extension, if in its discretion,determines that the individual’s failure to comply with the SSNdocumentation requirement was due to unforeseen circumstances and outsidethe control of the family.) If upon the expiration of the provided time period,the individual fails to comply with the SSN disclosure and documentationrequirements, the PHA must terminate the tenancy or assistance, or both of theindividual.b. Participants. The PHA must terminate assistance of HCV if each member ofthe household required to disclose a SSN does not disclose their SSN andprovide the required documentation.However, if the family is otherwise eligible for continued assistance, the PHA,at its discretion, may defer the family’s termination and provide the family anopportunity to comply with the requirement within a period not to exceed 90calendar days from the date the PHA determined the family noncompliantwith the SSN disclosure and documentation requirement, if the PHAdetermines:1. The failure to meet the SSN disclosure and documentationrequirements was due to circumstances that could not have beenforeseen and were outside the control of the family; and2. There is a reasonable likelihood that the family will be able todisclose the SSN and provide such documentation of the SSN bythe deadline.If the family is unable to comply with the requirements by the specified deadline, thePHA must terminate the assistance of the entire family.Page 17- 3 Revised/Approved 04/08/10 (Eff: 07/01/10)
