HamSchool: MILLER GROVE HIGH SCHOOLE-mail Address: robert_e_ham@fc.dekalb.k12.ga.usDescription: This course will help develop an appreciation for the importance of the history,purpose, and structure of <strong>Army</strong> <strong>JROTC</strong>; Demonstrate a knowledge of the rights, responsibilities,privileges and freedoms that underlie good citizenship; Display leadership potential and theability to live and work cooperatively with others; Demonstrate leadership in situations involvingconflict resolution; Demonstrate positive self-esteem and winning behavioral concepts in aculturally diverse society; Demonstrate the ability to think logically and to communicateeffectively, with emphasis on effective oral communication.Core Abilities: The <strong>JROTC</strong> core abilities describe the broad, life-long skills that every cadetneeds for success in all career and life roles. They are drawn from the overall goals and valuesthat drive the <strong>JROTC</strong> program. Core abilities are not learned in one lesson or <strong>Leadership</strong><strong>Education</strong> <strong>Training</strong> course, but rather they are linked to lesson competencies in order to integrateor thread them throughout the <strong>JROTC</strong> curriculum. In each lesson, the core abilities will beintroduced, taught, reinforced and assessed. Every student should know all of the core abilitiesas they are essential, value-added skills that every employer seeks. These core abilities are:a. Take responsibility for your actions and choicesb. Apply critical thinking techniquesc. Communicate using verbal, non-verbal, visual, and written techniquesd. Build your capacity for life-long learninge. Do your share as a good citizen in your school, community, country and the worldf.
