Beforeyou can select a cook<strong>in</strong>g function or set a temperature, youmust set the appliance <strong>in</strong>to “manual operation” mode.o To select manual operation mode, press the manual operationbutton (9) on the control panel.Sett<strong>in</strong>g the time of dayAfter sett<strong>in</strong>g your <strong>oven</strong> for manual operation, you should alsoset the time of day.o After press<strong>in</strong>g the manual operation button (9), use the m<strong>in</strong>usbutton (10) and plus button (11) to adjust the time thatappears <strong>in</strong> the display. After gett<strong>in</strong>g the display to the correcttime, release the m<strong>in</strong>us and plus buttons. After a few secondsthe time will fix <strong>in</strong> the display and you will be able to use your<strong>oven</strong>.The <strong>oven</strong> timero Only the m<strong>in</strong>ute m<strong>in</strong>der can be used with the defrost <strong>oven</strong>function. None of the other timer modes will work with thedefrost function.Sett<strong>in</strong>g the m<strong>in</strong>ute m<strong>in</strong>der functionYou are able to set the m<strong>in</strong>ute m<strong>in</strong>der at any time, regardlessof whether an <strong>oven</strong> function has been selected. You can set aperiod of time us<strong>in</strong>g the m<strong>in</strong>ute m<strong>in</strong>der function and an alarmwill sound when that period of time has elapsed.o Press the m<strong>in</strong>ute m<strong>in</strong>der button (6), the display will show avalue of 00:00. Set the period of time that you wish the m<strong>in</strong>utem<strong>in</strong>der to countdown for, by us<strong>in</strong>g the m<strong>in</strong>us (10) and plus(11) buttons.o Once the display has got to your desired countdown time, let goof the m<strong>in</strong>us and plus buttons. The m<strong>in</strong>ute m<strong>in</strong>der symbol (13)will appear on the timer display.o Once a countdown time has been set, it is possible to shorten orlengthen the time by us<strong>in</strong>g the m<strong>in</strong>us or plus buttons.o An alarm will sound when the countdown time has elapsed. Thealarm can be silenced by press<strong>in</strong>g the m<strong>in</strong>ute m<strong>in</strong>der button.16


o Important: The <strong>oven</strong> will cont<strong>in</strong>ue to heat once the alarm hasbeen silenced. If you have f<strong>in</strong>ished cook<strong>in</strong>g, then you should turnthe <strong>oven</strong> function selector and thermostat control knob to 0.Sett<strong>in</strong>g the duration functionThis function will allow you to set a countdown time similar tothe m<strong>in</strong>ute m<strong>in</strong>der function. However the <strong>oven</strong> will no longercont<strong>in</strong>ue to heat, once the countdown period has elapsed.o Use the thermostat control knob (3) to set the temperature thatyou require. The manual operation symbol (14) will appear onthe display.o Use the <strong>oven</strong> function selector knob (1) to select the mode ofcook<strong>in</strong>g that you require.o It is then possible to set the duration of the cook<strong>in</strong>g time thatyou require.o Press the duration button (7) and the display will show a valueof 00:00. Set the period of time that you wish the durationfunction to countdown for, by us<strong>in</strong>g the m<strong>in</strong>us (10) and plus(11) buttons.o Once the display has got to your desired countdown time, let goof the m<strong>in</strong>us and plus buttons. The countdown will startimmediately and the word AUTO will appear on the timer display.o Once a countdown time has been set, it is possible to shorten orlengthen the time by us<strong>in</strong>g the m<strong>in</strong>us or plus buttons.o An alarm will sound when the countdown time has elapsed andthe <strong>oven</strong> will switch off. The word AUTO will flash and theheat<strong>in</strong>g symbol will disappear. The alarm can be silenced bypress<strong>in</strong>g the duration button.o You will need to return the <strong>oven</strong> to manual operation mode, oncethe duration function has been used. To do this you should pressthe “manual operation” button, the word AUTO will disappearfrom the display and the manual operation symbol will appear<strong>in</strong>stead.o Important: If you do not turn the thermostat control knob and<strong>oven</strong> function selector knob to 0, then the appliance will cont<strong>in</strong>ueto operate as soon as you press the manual operation button.17


Sett<strong>in</strong>g the end cook functionThis function is similar to the duration function, however<strong>in</strong>stead of select<strong>in</strong>g a period of time that you wish the <strong>oven</strong> toswitch off after. You select the time of day that you wish the<strong>oven</strong> to switch off at.o Use the thermostat control knob (3) to set the temperature thatyou require. The manual operation symbol (14) will appear onthe display.o Use the <strong>oven</strong> function selector knob (1) to select the mode ofcook<strong>in</strong>g that you require.o Press the end cook button (8) and the display will show thecurrent time of day. Set the time of day that you wish the <strong>oven</strong>to stop cook<strong>in</strong>g at by us<strong>in</strong>g the m<strong>in</strong>us (10) and plus (11)buttons. Set the period of time that you wish to cook for, byus<strong>in</strong>g the m<strong>in</strong>us (10) and plus (11) buttons. The word AUTOwill appear on the timer display.o Immediately press the end cook button (8) and the timerdisplay will show a calculated end of cook<strong>in</strong>g time. Adjust<strong>in</strong>g the audible signalo The audible signal has three different sett<strong>in</strong>gs, low, medium andhigh.o To adjust the level of the audible signal, make sure that thetimer is <strong>in</strong> manual mode. Then press and hold the m<strong>in</strong>us buttonand you will hear the current level that is set.o Press the m<strong>in</strong>us button aga<strong>in</strong> and the audible signal will adjust tothe next level.o When the required level of audible signal is reached, release them<strong>in</strong>us button and it will be set.Select<strong>in</strong>g a cook<strong>in</strong>g function and temperatureBefore first useo To remove any residue from the <strong>oven</strong> that may have been leftfrom the manufactur<strong>in</strong>g process, you should select the <strong>fan</strong> <strong>oven</strong>function and set the thermostat to its maximum temperaturesett<strong>in</strong>g.o It is perfectly normal for a smell to be produced dur<strong>in</strong>g thisprocess.o You should make sure that any w<strong>in</strong>dows <strong>in</strong> the room are leftopen dur<strong>in</strong>g this process.o It is advisable for you not to rema<strong>in</strong> <strong>in</strong> the room whilst theburn<strong>in</strong>g off process is tak<strong>in</strong>g place.o You should leave the <strong>oven</strong> on maximum sett<strong>in</strong>g for 30 – 40m<strong>in</strong>utes.o After the <strong>oven</strong> cavity has cooled, it should then be cleaned withwarm soapy water, us<strong>in</strong>g either a sponge or soft cloth. Noabrasive cleaners should be used.o Outer parts of the <strong>oven</strong> should be cleaned with warm soapywater, us<strong>in</strong>g either a sponge or soft cloth. No abrasive cleanersshould be used.o We would recommend that an appropriate sta<strong>in</strong>less steel cleanerand polish is regularly used on the sta<strong>in</strong>less steel surfaces of thisappliance.20

Thermostat control knobThe <strong>oven</strong> thermostat control knob sets therequired temperature of the <strong>oven</strong>. Once familiar withthe performance of your appliance, temperatures and times canbe varied to suit personal preference.o If you are us<strong>in</strong>g the <strong>fan</strong> <strong>oven</strong> function, then you should followthe <strong>in</strong>formation given on the food packag<strong>in</strong>g for this particularmode of cook<strong>in</strong>g.o You should pre-heat the <strong>oven</strong> and not place food <strong>in</strong>side of it untilthe <strong>oven</strong> operat<strong>in</strong>g light has gone off. You can choose not to preheatwhen us<strong>in</strong>g the <strong>fan</strong> <strong>oven</strong> mode; however you should extendthe cook<strong>in</strong>g time given on the food packag<strong>in</strong>g by at least tenm<strong>in</strong>utes.o IMPORTANT: You should pre-heat the <strong>oven</strong> if you are bak<strong>in</strong>g nomatter what <strong>oven</strong> function you are us<strong>in</strong>g.


o If there is no guidance given on the food packag<strong>in</strong>g specificallyfor cook<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> <strong>fan</strong> <strong>oven</strong> mode, you can generally reduce thecook<strong>in</strong>g time and temperature by 10% from the <strong>in</strong>formationgiven for conventional <strong>oven</strong> cook<strong>in</strong>g.o Make sure that frozen foods are thoroughly thawed beforecook<strong>in</strong>g, unless the <strong>in</strong>structions on the food packag<strong>in</strong>g advisethat you can “cook from frozen”.o Before cook<strong>in</strong>g, check that any accessories that are not requiredare removed from the <strong>oven</strong>.o Place cook<strong>in</strong>g trays <strong>in</strong> the centre of the <strong>oven</strong> and leave gapsbetween the trays to allow air to circulate.o Try to open the door as little as possible to view the dishes.o The <strong>oven</strong> light will rema<strong>in</strong> on dur<strong>in</strong>g cook<strong>in</strong>g.Warn<strong>in</strong>gso Keep the <strong>oven</strong> door closed when us<strong>in</strong>g any of the cook<strong>in</strong>gfunctions, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g the grill functions.o Do not use alum<strong>in</strong>ium foil to cover the enamelled bak<strong>in</strong>g tray orheat items wrapped <strong>in</strong> alum<strong>in</strong>ium foil under the grill. The highreflectivity of the foil could potentially damage the grill element.o You should also never l<strong>in</strong>e the base of your <strong>oven</strong> with alum<strong>in</strong>iumfoil.o Dur<strong>in</strong>g cook<strong>in</strong>g, never place pans or cookware directly onto thebottom of your <strong>oven</strong>. They should always be placed on theshelves provided.o The grill heat<strong>in</strong>g element and other <strong>in</strong>ternal components of the<strong>oven</strong> become extremely hot dur<strong>in</strong>g operation, avoid touch<strong>in</strong>gthem <strong>in</strong>advertently when handl<strong>in</strong>g the food which you aregrill<strong>in</strong>g.o Important: Be careful when open<strong>in</strong>g the door, to avoid contactwith hot parts of the <strong>oven</strong> and steam.o The bak<strong>in</strong>g tray handle should only be used to reposition the driptray and NOT for remov<strong>in</strong>g it from the <strong>oven</strong> cavity.o The bak<strong>in</strong>g tray handle should not be left <strong>in</strong> position when theappliance is switched on.25

You should also ensure that thefood is placed <strong>in</strong> an adequately sized dish and that you use theenamelled bak<strong>in</strong>g tray where appropriate.o Outer parts of the <strong>oven</strong> should only be cleaned with warm soapywater, us<strong>in</strong>g either a sponge or soft cloth. WARNING- Care should be takenas the <strong>in</strong>ner edges of the door may be sharp.o IMPORTANT: You should make sure that the door is supportedat all times and that you place the door on some paddedmaterial whilst clean<strong>in</strong>g it.o The <strong>oven</strong> door and door glass should only be cleaned us<strong>in</strong>g adamp cloth and a small amount of detergent. The cloth MUSTNOT have come <strong>in</strong>to contact with any form of clean<strong>in</strong>g productor chemical previously.o To refit the door you should slide the h<strong>in</strong>ges back <strong>in</strong>to their slotsand open the door fully.o IMPORTANT: The movable bolts (B) must be closed back <strong>in</strong>totheir orig<strong>in</strong>al positions before clos<strong>in</strong>g the door.o Take care not to dislodge the h<strong>in</strong>gelock<strong>in</strong>g system when remov<strong>in</strong>g the door,28

My appliance isn’t work<strong>in</strong>g correctlyo The <strong>oven</strong> isn’t com<strong>in</strong>g on.* Check that the <strong>oven</strong> is <strong>in</strong> manual operation mode.* Check that you have selected a cook<strong>in</strong>g function and a cook<strong>in</strong>gtemperature.o There appears to be no power to the <strong>oven</strong> and grill.* Check that the appliance has been connected to the electricalma<strong>in</strong>s supply correctly.* Check that the ma<strong>in</strong>s fuses are <strong>in</strong> work<strong>in</strong>g order.* Check that the operat<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong>structions for sett<strong>in</strong>g the time of dayand putt<strong>in</strong>g the appliance <strong>in</strong>to manual operation mode have beenfollowed.o The grill function works but the ma<strong>in</strong> <strong>oven</strong> does not.* Check that you have selected the correct cook<strong>in</strong>g function.o The grill and top <strong>oven</strong> element is not work<strong>in</strong>g, or cuts outfor long periods of time dur<strong>in</strong>g use.* Allow the <strong>oven</strong> to cool for approximately 2 hours. Once cool,check whether the appliance is aga<strong>in</strong> work<strong>in</strong>g properly.o My food is not cook<strong>in</strong>g properly.* Ensure that you are select<strong>in</strong>g the correct temperature and thecorrect cook<strong>in</strong>g function for the food that you are cook<strong>in</strong>g. Itmay be appropriate to adjust your cook<strong>in</strong>g temperature by plusor m<strong>in</strong>us 10°C, to achieve the best cook<strong>in</strong>g results.o My food is not cook<strong>in</strong>g evenly.* Check that the <strong>oven</strong> has been <strong>in</strong>stalled correctly and is level.* Check that the correct temperatures and shelf positions arebe<strong>in</strong>g used.32


o The <strong>oven</strong> light is not work<strong>in</strong>g.* Refer to pages 27 - 28 and follow the “Replac<strong>in</strong>g the <strong>oven</strong> bulb”section.o I am gett<strong>in</strong>g condensation <strong>in</strong> my <strong>oven</strong>.* Steam and condensation is a natural by product of cook<strong>in</strong>g anyfood with high water content, such as frozen food, chicken etc.* You may get condensation <strong>in</strong> the <strong>oven</strong> cavity and form<strong>in</strong>gbetween the <strong>oven</strong> door glasses. This is not necessarily a signthat the <strong>oven</strong> is not work<strong>in</strong>g correctly.* Do not leave food <strong>in</strong> the <strong>oven</strong> to cool after it has been cookedand the <strong>oven</strong> has been switched off.* Use a covered conta<strong>in</strong>er, where practical, when cook<strong>in</strong>g toreduce the amount of condensation that forms.33


IMPORTANT: If your appliance appears not to beoperat<strong>in</strong>g correctly, then you should disconnect itfrom your ma<strong>in</strong>s supply and then contact theService Department.DO NOT ATTEMPT TO REPAIR THE APPLIANCEYOURSELF.Please note that if an eng<strong>in</strong>eer is asked to attend whilst the product isunder guarantee and f<strong>in</strong>ds that the problem is not the result of anappliance fault, then you may be liable for the cost of the call outcharge.The appliance must be accessible for the eng<strong>in</strong>eer to performany necessary repair. If your appliance is <strong>in</strong>stalled <strong>in</strong> such away that an eng<strong>in</strong>eer is concerned that damage will be causedto the appliance or your kitchen, then he will not complete arepair.This <strong>in</strong>cludes situations where appliances have been tiled <strong>in</strong>,sealed <strong>in</strong> with sealant, have wooden obstructions placed <strong>in</strong>front of the appliance, like pl<strong>in</strong>ths.
