1.0 FUNCTIONAL RELATIONSHIPSJOB DESCRIPTION<strong>ICT</strong> SUPPORT SPECIALISTThe <strong>ICT</strong> <strong>Support</strong> <strong>Specialist</strong> will report to and work under the direction of the <strong>ICT</strong> Manager and willcollaborate with other <strong>CDEMA</strong> staff as required.2.0 SUMMARYThe <strong>ICT</strong> <strong>Support</strong> <strong>Specialist</strong> will provide support to the <strong>ICT</strong> Manager in advancing the work of the <strong>ICT</strong>Unit. Specificially, he/she will provide technical assistance to <strong>CDEMA</strong> CU users, respond to queriesand provide troubleshooting support including via electronic and other communication means fromremote locations.3.0 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES3.1 Respond to user inquiries regarding computer hardware, software and network operations toresolve problems.3.2 Install and per<strong>for</strong>m minor repairs to hardware, software or peripheral equipment followingdesign or installation specifications3.3 Per<strong>for</strong>m timely escalation of pending support-related issues to the <strong>ICT</strong> Manager <strong>for</strong> furtheranalysis and resolution.3.4 Oversee the daily per<strong>for</strong>mance of <strong>CDEMA</strong>’s network3.5 Setup equipment <strong>for</strong> users, per<strong>for</strong>ming or ensuring proper installation of cables, operatingsystems, or appropriate software.3.6 Maintain system backups, records of daily data communication transaction, problems andremedial actions taken, or installation activities.3.7 Establish new system requirements or modification in collaboration with staff, users andmanagement3.8 Develop training materials and procedures and train users in the proper use of relevanthardware and software.3.9 Prepares monthly reports <strong>for</strong> the <strong>ICT</strong> Manager in keeping with established standards3.10 Represents <strong>CDEMA</strong> CU at meetings as required.3.11 Participates in disaster response activities of the agency, as may be required3.12 Per<strong>for</strong>ms such other job-related duties as may be assigned from time to time by the <strong>ICT</strong>Manager or other duly authorized staff member in his/her absence.


4.0 CONDITIONS4.1 General administrative office accommodation provided4.2 Institutional support provided through documented rules and regulations, general policyguidelines and through access to available relevant in<strong>for</strong>mation, resources and facilities4.3 Position may require periods of travel to <strong>CDEMA</strong> member states as well as otherdestinations4.4 Subject to general service conditions applicable to established staff members of theAgency4.5 Required to maintain current knowledge of the responsibilities of other disastermanagement agencies and organizations5.0 EVALUATION CRITERIA5.1 Timely completion of assignments and reports and ability to meet established deadlines5.2 Fostering of teamwork within <strong>ICT</strong> team5.3 Knowledge and understanding of and the effective application of the Agency’spolicies and objectives5.4 Effectiveness of communication5.5 Technical accuracy and general quality of assignments undertaken5.6 Demonstrated reliability and initiative
