General Information1.1 IntroductionChapter 1 - General InformationThis manual describes the SeaBat 8101 Multibeam Echosounder System. It iswritten for both the first-time user as well as the experienced operator whowishes to use a particular section as a reference guide. This manual provides detailson basic installation, operation, and maintenance of the system. Figure 1shows the basic components of the SeaBat 8101 system.Figure 1, SeaBat 8101 System1.1.1 What Is a SeaBat 8101?The SeaBat 8101 is a 240 kHz Multibeam Echosounder (MBES) System, whichmeasures the relative water depths across a wide swath perpendicular to a vessel’strack.The design of the 8101 is a result of years of experience gained from RESON’ssuccessful SeaBat series of MBES systems and is intended to be quickly andsmoothly integrated into existing hydrographic systems, using interface architecturecommon to the entire SeaBat 81xx series.______________________________________________________________________SeaBat 8101 Operator's Manual 1-1 Version 3.02
