tory <strong>The</strong> Story <strong>of</strong>G.R.A.C.E.“Several years ago my friend Grace, a beautifulAiredale, became very sick with cancer. I took her tothe <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Georgia</strong> <strong>Veterinary</strong> Hospital whereshe received excellent treatment. I was touched byhow much the veterinarians cared.Much to my heartbreak though, Grace didn’tmake it to her next birthday. But because she was sucha loving, kindhearted dog and because I loved her somuch, I decided to establish a fund in her honor tohelp other dogs.<strong>The</strong> fund is named for Grace and my two currentdogs. About theG.R.A.C.E. <strong>Fund</strong><strong>The</strong> G.R.A.C.E. (Grace, Rosemary, AthenaCanine Emergency) <strong>Fund</strong> is designed to help clients<strong>of</strong> the <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Georgia</strong> <strong>College</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Veterinary</strong>Medicine Small Animal Teaching Hospital who havedemonstrated financial need to help cover the cost <strong>of</strong>any medical procedure for their dog. <strong>The</strong> fund is setup to help dogs who are ill, injured or require routinecare which their owners cannot afford. Assistance willbe given each fiscal year as long as funds are available.Where does the money for thefund come from?Some <strong>of</strong> the proceeds fromthe annual G.R.A.C.E.’s BirthdayParty are contributed to the fund.But the fund relies mainly onprivate gifts from dog lovers likeyou who understand how muchdog owners care about theirpets and how difficult it is to seeanimals suffer.What is the G.R.A.C.E.Birthday Party?This event takes place every year on the spaciousgrounds <strong>of</strong> Ashford Manor Bed & Breakfast inWatkinsville, Ga.
