12(x)(xi)Windows shall be <strong>of</strong> double sliding type slider running smoothlyin channels without rattle. All safety or laminated safety glassesused for windows shall conform to the specifications presentedby the Bureau <strong>of</strong> Indian Standards.Ventilation.- Adequate arrangements <strong>of</strong> ventilation shall beprovided in the vehicle. All ventilators and windows shall besuch that when closed they shall not permit rain water or dustinside the vehicle.Seats and seating arrangements.-(a) The seating capacity shall not be less than 30 or more than54 passengers excluding driver and conductor. Amaximum <strong>of</strong> 10 standing passengers shall be allowed.(b) The seating arrangement shall have a minimum pitch <strong>of</strong>686 mm between seats, with a clear gangway - 'all seatsfacing front'.(c) Each passenger' seat shall have seating space <strong>of</strong> 406 mmx 381 mm with back rest.(d) The seat shall be so mounted as to provide atleast 198 mmleg room from the front <strong>of</strong> the rear seat to the front seat.(xii) Head Room.- Head Room from the floor level to the underside<strong>of</strong> the ceiling measured at the centre <strong>of</strong> the gangway shall notbe less than 1912 mm.(xiii) Steps at entrance and exit.-The top <strong>of</strong> the steps for anyentrance or exit, other than emergency door, shall not be lessthan 432 mm or more than 1912 mm.(xiv) Destination boxes.-Properly illuminated destination boxesshall be provided above front and rear windscreens. Anotherdestination box shall be provided above the entrance gatementioning the route with 'via'.(xv) Lighting.-(a)Passenger compartment shall be adequately illuminated.(b)(c)(d)(e)Arrangement shall be made to eliminate reflection <strong>of</strong> thelight from the passenger compartment on the windscreen.One independently operated light fitting shall be providedfor illumination <strong>of</strong> the driver's and conductor's seat areas.Light fittings shall be provided for illuminating the steps atthe passenger entrance and exit doors.Wiring in the passenger compartment shall be with lowtension cable conforming to IS:2465 <strong>of</strong> sizecommensurate with the estimated current loading.
