<strong>Tulane</strong> University<strong>Architecture</strong> <strong>Program</strong> <strong>Report</strong>September <strong>2013</strong>that began during the academic year while continuing through the summer. These were funded byindividual donors to the <strong>School</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Architecture</strong> as solicited by the Dean.Newcomb <strong>Tulane</strong> College GrantsNumerous grant opportunities exist for <strong>Tulane</strong> students through central Newcomb <strong>Tulane</strong> Collegeprograms. Many <strong>of</strong> our students have been awarded these grants for research and travel support. Inaddition, Newcomb College Institute (a leadership unit <strong>of</strong> the University with a focus on women’s issues)has also supported numerous students who compete for grant funding.Support <strong>of</strong> Attendance <strong>of</strong> Meetings <strong>of</strong> Student Organizations and Honorary SocietiesDean Kenneth Schwartz has supported student travel and registration to attend the national AIAS Forumconference every year since arriving at the <strong>Tulane</strong> <strong>School</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Architecture</strong> in fall <strong>of</strong> 2008. For the last twoyears, spring <strong>of</strong> 2012 and <strong>2013</strong>, the Dean has supported a thesis student selected by the thesis faculty toattend the Critical Mass Symposium at the University <strong>of</strong> North Carolina Charlotte. We plan to continue ourparticipation in this program. As recently as this year, the Dean has invited a student to attend the LargeFirm Roundtable <strong>of</strong> the AIA with him in Chicago (October, <strong>2013</strong>).35
