Intended architecture majors are reviewed by the same process as every otherapplicant to <strong>Tulane</strong>, although strength <strong>of</strong> portfolio as evaluated by the architecture faculty committee, isgiven consideration. Admission decisions are based on a holistic review <strong>of</strong> high school transcript,standardized test scores, extracurricular activities, recommendations, a personal statement, an optionalstatement <strong>of</strong> interest, and any other materials the student elects to send (including, in the case <strong>of</strong>architecture applicants, the required portfolio). While no minima for academic achievement are set, in themost recent application cycle the middle 50% <strong>of</strong> students admitted to <strong>Tulane</strong> scored 29-32 on the ACTand/or 1900-2100 on the SAT. Diversity initiatives include focused multiculturalrecruitment events and participation in the Posse Scholars program, whereby we <strong>of</strong>fer full-tuitionscholarships for an annual class <strong>of</strong> twenty students from Los Angeles and New Orleans.All students admitted to <strong>Tulane</strong> are considered for academic merit aid at the time <strong>of</strong> application and notified<strong>of</strong> any award in their admission letters. Transfers coming from outside <strong>Tulane</strong> are reviewed by the same processdescribed for first-time freshmen above with the addition <strong>of</strong> a college transcript and course descriptions.Transfers <strong>of</strong> both kinds are expected to start from the beginning <strong>of</strong> the five-year studio cycle unless theycan demonstrate previous architectural training by way <strong>of</strong> a portfolio and descriptions <strong>of</strong> courses taken;evaluation <strong>of</strong> such materials may result in one or more semesters <strong>of</strong> advanced standing in the studio cycle.Description <strong>of</strong> Applicant Evaluation Process for Admission - Graduate MArch IThere are two <strong>NAAB</strong> accredited degree tracks in the Graduate <strong>Program</strong> in <strong>Architecture</strong> at <strong>Tulane</strong> University– M.Arch I (first pr<strong>of</strong>essional degree – 3.5-year) and M.Arch I Advanced Standing (for those with a prepr<strong>of</strong>essionaldegree in architecture – 2-year, typically). All those applying to the M.Arch I programs do sothrough an online process. In addition to completing the online application, prospective students submit aresume, statement <strong>of</strong> interest, three letters <strong>of</strong> recommendation, the <strong>of</strong>ficial transcript from their previousinstitution(s), <strong>of</strong>ficial GRE scores (and TOEFL scores, if applicable), and a portfolio <strong>of</strong> work.http://architecture.tulane.edu/prospective-students/admissions/gradutate-admission-applicationA faculty graduate admissions committee reviews all components <strong>of</strong> each prospective student’s applicationmaterials in order to determine intellectual and creative capacity with regard to standards for graduatestudies at the <strong>Tulane</strong> <strong>School</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Architecture</strong>. Students applying to the Graduate <strong>Program</strong> in <strong>Architecture</strong>must have completed a university undergraduate degree prior to the start <strong>of</strong> the graduate degree program.Official transcripts are reviewed to verify undergraduate degree completion. In the case <strong>of</strong> a prospectivestudent applying while in the final semester <strong>of</strong> an undergraduate degree program, an <strong>of</strong>ficial transcript uponthe completion <strong>of</strong> the undergraduate degree must be submitted prior to the start <strong>of</strong> our program.31
