5. Social responsibility− Eventually, the group may consider the opportunity ofstreamlining some of the indicators.− In 2008, the implementation of a software tool dedicatedto the reporting of environmental data led to a clarificationof roles and responsibilities and to an increase in the levelof control over the data at the level of subsidiaries. Asimilar approach had been undertaken in 2007 in relationto social data. On this occasion, and taking into accountthe first year of experience, Rexel has revamped andimproved environmental and social reporting processes.− The Standards are available in French and English, andthe social section is available in three other languages.As a general rule, the data required is detailed. Theenvironmental section of the Standards could extend to allindicators the rules to be followed in case of unavailabilityof certain data, or suggest default ratios.− Hagemeyer’s Retained Entities, which represent asignificant part of the group, were incorporated in 2008in the scope of reporting. This integration included somedifficulties deriving from the discovery of the Standardsby new users.− The Standards define the role of the validator, who is incharge of data control, allowing the collection of reliabledata. The nature of internal controls to be performedcould be more detailed.− Estimates have been established by Rexel’s entitiesunder their own responsibility to calculate the CarbonInventory indicator due to the absence of recording ofcertain data for part of the perimeter.
