5.4 STATUTORY AUDITOR’S REPORT ON THE FINDINGS RESULTINGFROM PROCEDURES AGREED ON CERTAIN SOCIAL AND ENVIRONMENTALINDICATORSThis is a free translation into English of the Auditor’s report on the findings resulting from procedures agreed on certain social andenvironmental indicators issued in the French language and is provided solely for the convenience of English speaking users. Thisreport should be read in conjunction with, and construed in accordance with, French law and professional auditing standardsapplicable in France.<strong>Rexel</strong>Year ended December 31, <strong>2008</strong>Statutory Auditor’s report on the findings resulting from procedures agreed on certain social and environmentalindicatorsMr. President,As agreed with you in our engagement letter datedDecember 12, <strong>2008</strong> and in our capacity as statutoryauditor of <strong>Rexel</strong>, we have implemented the proceduresagreed with you in relation to six environmental, social andsafety indicators for the year <strong>2008</strong> (1) (the “Indicators”). TheIndicators are defined by the Standards made up of theenvironmental reporting protocol as at October 17, <strong>2008</strong>, onthe one hand, and of the definitions of the social indicatorsprovided by the IT reporting system as at December 31,<strong>2008</strong>, on the other hand.It is the responsibility of <strong>Rexel</strong>’s department of sustainabledevelopment, in relation to environmental reporting, andof <strong>Rexel</strong>’s management of human resources, in relationto social reporting, to establish indicators, implement thereporting processes (the “Processes”) and ensure that theStandards are made available upon request.Our work, carried out in accordance with the professionalstandards applicable in France, has been to implement thefollowing procedures, that you have asked us to carry out,the results of which are described in the form of findings. Itis up to you to draw your own conclusions in such respect.Our duties are neither an audit nor a limited review carriedout according to professional standards applicable inFrance. Accordingly, we express no opinion or conclusionon the information set out in Chapter 5 of this <strong>Document</strong>de Référence.Had we implemented additional procedures or conductedan audit or a limited review of such information in accordancewith the professional standards, we may have identifiedother facts that would have been brought to your attention.Nature and scope of our workWe carried out the following agreed-upon procedures:− We compared the Standards to industry standards, interms of precision, clarity, objectivity, comprehensivenessand relevance in respect of the businesses of the group.− At group level, we conducted interviews with the personsresponsible for the collection of information and for theimplementation of the Processes. At these levels, weobserved the implementation of the Standards, carriedout analytical procedures and verified, on a test basis,the consolidation of the Indicators.− We selected a sample of four entities reflection theactivities of <strong>Rexel</strong> according to their size and risk ofanomalies previously identified. The selected entitiesrepresent on average 20% of the total value of verifiedenvironmental indicators and 29% of total headcount.At this level, we verified the understanding andimplementation of the Standards, carried out detailedtests based on samples, consisting in verifying thecalculations and reconciling the data with supportingdocuments. For each of these entities, we visited a salesoutlet to assess the understanding of the procedures andthe level of mastering of the reporting tool on site.FindingsOur findings are as follows:− The subjects addressed by the Standards cover the mainenvironmental and social issues in the sector. The ratioscalculated allow to measure the performance of thegroup and to compare them with other industry players.Certain ratios could be allocated specific targets.(1) Three environmental indicators: Carbon Inventory (in tons of carbon equivalent) of fuel, electricity and transport (excluding subcontractors),specific <strong>Rexel</strong> waste (bulbs, tubes and cables), allocation of lighting units sold (% incandescent lamps and % low consumption lamps).
