21.5 Video Content CollaborationPlatformDue to the floods, our opportunities to cooperate with Prague media schoolswere delayed and therefore we tested the platform on our own. Although itsproducer offers the platform as a LAN solution, the platform can be used in theCESNET2 network. The equipment (Avid LanShare EX) will be delivered by theend of the year and put into routine operation at the turn of January and February2003. This will enable us to offer our members a non-trivial disk capacity formedia editing and tools for working with this capacity.21.6 Assessment of this YearConsidering the results, we believe that this year can be assessed as successful.We managed to extend the streaming platform both in terms of quantity (diskspace), and quality (PAL streaming). We have intensified the international collaborationand tested the video data-sharing platform.In addition, we participated in the broadcasting of a large number of variousevents with scientific, research or academic topics.21.7 Plans for the Next YearThe objective of the next year is to extend the production system with a transcodingsubsystem (conversion from the production format to streamable formats)and a search subsystem (the metadata issue relates to this as well).High-speed National Research Network and its New Applications 2002209
