In the Linux OS, we used three different implementations during our tests:• Intel• University of New Hampshire (UNH) InterOperability Lab• Cisco16.2.1 Linux–LinuxIn the first test, both the target and the initiator were running on a PC with theLinux operating system. We used the ext2 file system in Linux within this test,as well as in the further tests.Performance Characteristics MeasurementsWe were only able to measure the performance for the Intel implementation,which turned out to be the only one functional. For comparison, we carried outour measurements in a 100 MB Ethernet network and a gigabit network. Thetarget utilization in the gigabit network reached up to 70 % at peak times duringmeasurements.Figure 16.2: Linux–Linux measurement resultsFor comparison, we measured the data throughput within the access to datalocated on a directly connected hard drive and the access via NFS with thesame equipment.
