(03/2012) Page 27"First vacation year" - the first vacation year is the calendar year in which the employee's firstanniversary falls.(b)A regular full-time employee will have an annual vacation entitlement as follows:Vacation YearsWorkdays0 - First.......................................................................................10Second to Fifth...........................................................................15Sixth...........................................................................................16Seventh.......................................................................................17Eighth.........................................................................................18Ninth ..........................................................................................19Tenth ..........................................................................................20Twentieth ...................................................................................25Twenty-fifth...............................................................................30(c) Vacation entitlement does not accrue while an employee is on an unpaid leave of absence thatthey have requested.(d) Conversion of Hours - where an employee is granted vacation pursuant to this article <strong>and</strong> wherethe regularly scheduled workday is greater than seven <strong>and</strong> one-half (7½) hours per day, the annualvacation entitlement shall be converted to hours on the basis of a seven <strong>and</strong> one-half (7½) hours day<strong>and</strong> deducted accordingly.(e) Regular employees working on a part-time basis shall be entitled to annual vacation on a proratedbasis as per the schedule above.18.2 Vacation Earnings for Partial Years(a) During the first partial year of service a new employee will earn vacation at the rate ofone-twelfth (1/12) the annual vacation entitlement for each month worked.(b) During the first <strong>and</strong> subsequent vacation years an employee will earn one-twelfth (1/12) of theannual entitlement for each month. <strong>Employees</strong> are eligible to schedule their annual entitlement at anytime during the vacation year. However, where an employee has taken more vacation than earned in thecurrent vacation year, the unearned portion shall be recovered upon termination of employment.18.3 Vacation Scheduling(a) With the exception of authorized vacation carryover under Article 18.6, the scheduling <strong>and</strong>completion of vacations shall be on a calendar-year basis.(b) The calendar year in which an employee's first anniversary falls shall be the first vacation year. Forthe purpose of calculation of vacation entitlement, the calendar year in which the fifth anniversary fallsshall be the fifth vacation year; in which the sixth anniversary falls shall be the sixth vacation year; etc.(c) An employee earns but is not entitled to receive vacation leave during the first six (6) months ofcontinuous employment.(d) Vacation schedules, once approved by the Employer, shall not be changed, other than in cases ofemergency, except by mutual agreement between the employee <strong>and</strong> the Employer.(e) The employee shall be permitted to take his/her vacation entitlements at any time during the yearif the vacation schedule permits.(f) Vacation shall be granted on the basis of service seniority within a classification series in thework unit as defined by the Employer.
