(03/2012) Page 22(b)All schedules shall clearly indicate the starting <strong>and</strong> finishing times of each shift.(c) If the Employer introduces more shifts, as defined in 15.1 of this Agreement, before introducinganother shift, discussion with the Labour Management Committee will occur in order to makerecommendations before the change.(d) When there is more than one schedule per unit or department, employees will be assigned to eachschedule based on seniority, qualification <strong>and</strong> employee preference.14.8 Scheduling Earned Time Off(a) <strong>Employees</strong> may exchange days off with the Employer's approval providing there is no increasedcost to the Employer.(b) Under the provisions of Articles 17.3 <strong>and</strong> 17.4 of this Agreement, the day off in lieu of a holidayworked or a holiday on a day of rest, shall be scheduled by mutual agreement between the Employer<strong>and</strong> the employee within ninety (90) days of the holiday. If the day off has not been scheduled, it shallbe attached to the first consecutive days of rest.(c) Article 14.8(b) shall not apply to regular part-time employees. Regular part-time employees whoare scheduled to work a full-time shift shall be subject to the work schedule applicable to their workunit <strong>and</strong> shall have Article 14.8(b) apply.14.9 Meal PeriodsMeal periods shall be scheduled as close as possible to the middle of the shift. The length of the mealperiod shall be subject to mutual agreement <strong>and</strong> not be less than thirty (30) minutes nor more thansixty (60) minutes. <strong>Employees</strong> shall normally be entitled to take the meal period uninterrupted, away fromthe work area. Where required to take the meal period at the work area or to be available for work, themeal period shall be considered time worked.15.1 Definition of Shifts <strong>and</strong> Premiums(a)(b)Identification of Shifts:ARTICLE 15 - SHIFT WORK(1) Day Shift - all hours worked on any shift which starts between 4:30 a.m. <strong>and</strong> 1:59 p.m.inclusive;(2) Afternoon Shift - all hours worked on any shift which starts between 2:00 p.m.<strong>and</strong> 8:59 p.m. inclusive;(3) Night Shift - all hours worked on any shift which starts between 9:00 p.m. <strong>and</strong> 4:29 a.m.inclusive.Shift Premium (regular full-time employees):Fifty cents (50¢) per hour for afternoon shift; sixty-five cents (65¢) per hour for night shift.15.2 Shift Premium Entitlement(a) <strong>Employees</strong> working an afternoon or night shift as identified in Article 15.1(a)(2) <strong>and</strong> 15.1(a)(3)shall receive a shift premium for all hours worked on the shift.(b) <strong>Employees</strong> covered by flextime <strong>and</strong>/or modified workweek agreements who, by their ownvolition, choose to begin their shift at a time which would qualify them for a shift premium shall not beentitled to the premium. <strong>Employees</strong> who are required to begin their shift at a time which would qualify
