Growth in the 1970’s<br />

Maldon, Essex, under her current name the ‘Amaric’. <strong>The</strong> present owner acquired her in<br />

1996 under the name of the ‘Hartly Southseas’. She had been used during the 1980s as a<br />

sail training vessel, and then sadly neglected for most of the 1990s. Structurally the hull<br />

was still in good condition and the interior has now been refitted with a new modern<br />

galley. However most of the original structural joinery in the lower cabin is intact and the<br />

original twin furling headsails and 72 Thorneycroft engine are still in use. This is surely a<br />

testimony to the skill and workmanship of the <strong>Willmott</strong> trainees and apprentices.<br />
