Safety instructionsWAREMAWMS Central transmitter2.3 Target groupThese instructions are addressed to persons operating, adjusting or commissioningthe control unit.WARNINCommissioning or operation by insufficiently qualified and knowledgeablepersons may cause serious damage to the system or may even result inpersonal injury.Commissioning may therefore only be performed by properly trained andqualified specialists. These specialists must be able to recognise sources ofdanger that may be caused by the mechanical, electrical or electronic equipment.These qualified specialists must know and understand the content of thepresent instructions and the instructions of the individual WMS products.2.4 Retrofitting andmodificationsWe design and build the WMS products with reliability and safety in mind. Allrequired settings are made when the unit is first commissioned. Modificationof the unit parameters is therefore only required when the characteristics ofthe control need to be adjusted, changes are made to the sensor equipmentor the control itself is replaced.WARNINRetrofitting and modifications may impact the safety of the system orreduce its effectiveness. Possible consequences may include death,serious or light injuries, property or environmental damage.Therefore, contact us or your specialist dealer before retrofitting or changingthe system or the unit parameters if you cannot find information on the correspondingtopic in the control unit documentation. This is the only way toensure trouble-free retrofitting/modification.Exercise special care when components of different versions are combinedor when existing components are replaced by older/newer products with adifferent scope of functions or a different software version.10We reserve the right to carry out improvements890405_0•en•01.11.2009

Safety instructions2.5 Working safelyWhen you commission units or WMS products with the WMS Central transmitteror perform work on the sun shading systems:WARNINThe electrical installation must be performed by a certified electrician inaccordance with the electrical installation regulations published by theAssociation of German Electrical Engineers (VDE 0100) or the standardsand regulations of the country in which the device is being installed. Thespecialist must observe the installation instructions included with theelectrical device.If you want to perform work on motor-operated windows or building façadeswhere motor-operated sun shading products are installed, thenSwitch the system to a de-energised state.Make sure that the unit has been sufficiently secured against unauthorised orunintentional reactivation.In any case, use suitable safety devices for personal protection.Never place or store any items in the motion area of automatically operatedmechanisms (e.g. ladder against a house wall with an articulated arm awning).WARNINDangerous situations, malfunctions and property damage to the unitmay result from improperly executed mounting, connection, repair ormaintenance work.Such work may only be carried out by the service department or by authorisedqualified personnel.Only use such spare/replacement parts for maintenance or repair work ashave been approved by the manufacturer of the unit.WARNINDangerous situations, malfunctions and property damage to the unit mayresult if connections are disconnected during operation! All connectionsare required for proper operation of the control.Therefore, switch off the entire system before attaching or detaching connectinglines.WARNINDanger to life and risk of property damage through sudden movement ofthe mechanism!2.6 Additional documentsThese instructions contain the information needed to operate the WMS Centraltransmitter.
