Gusford Primary School“Promoting Achievement and Success.”School Newsletter – 23 rd June 2010Tel: 01473 682148Dear Parents,From the HeadteacherMy thank you this week goes to some unsung heroes – the office staff. They are a key part of keepingparents informed through newsletters and manning the phones and also contacting parents whenchildren are ill or there are concerns. They deal with me giving them paperwork, newsletters and data toorganise, often at short notice. Their role is wide ranging as they are also often called upon to give firstaid and TLC to children too. Thank you to Mrs Harbut, Ms Seager, Mrs De’ath, Mrs Mee and Mrs Heard. We also have a volunteer who helps us in the office, Mrs Drake and this really helps us to get through allthe paperwork done that a modern school office has to deal with.As you will know we have tried to accommodate people today with regards to children being able toleave early to watch the football (or stay if unable/don’t want to go early). It is a judgement call inmatters like this and so thank you for the feedback we have received. One letter in particular made ussmile as it said “I am not a football fan . . . I just wanted to say I think you are very thoughtful andaccommodating to the parents. . . I think you are a fantastic headteacher with a wonderful group ofstaff, let’s hope it’s worth the children going home early!” Thank you for your encouragement and yes –let’s hope England do well.Respect AgendaThis week’s theme is ‘Proper Playtime’. We talked about how to play properly, deal with disputes that may arise and which parts of the grounds are out ofbounds. As always information can be found on the home page of our websitewww.gusford.suffolk.sch.uk .The core elements we explained in assembly were:• Only play the activities it is your day for eg football only on your football day.• If you are getting annoyed with a situation ask an adult to help you before you get too angry• When the ‘equipment in whistle’ blows please return the equipment to its boxes.• Don’t argue with the monitors if they ask for equipment.• Only use provided equipment eg no gloves being used as a football• Please be aware of others, including adults on duty, when playing• No hiding in the bushes or going into out of bound areas• When the whistle blows at the end of playtime, stand still and stop talking.• When the second whistle blows walk calmly down the path. Don’t push past peopleSchool Nursing Team.A member of the school nursing team will be holding a drop in session on Friday 25 June from 8.30am –8.45am .
